I just used the Garmin Checklist Editor https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=5075. It's a little clunky, but it works fine after you get used to it. Then, I put the resulting .ace file in the root directory of the SD card and it worked.

1984 Mooney M20K TSIO-360-LB oil leak/loss of oil pressure
Ragsf15e replied to Logwes21's topic in General Mooney Talk
If we’re going for easiest place to look and most often recently “touched”, I’d have a good look at the oil filter. There are a surprising number of ways to get distracted and not torque it properly. People make mistakes, it happens. The other thing that I’ve seen from this forum is that the check valves are very thin aluminum and if the wrong adel clamp is used or it’s badly positioned, you can wear a hole in the check valve. The higher pressure one would certainly pump out a lot of oil. I don’t think an internal failure of tge check valve would cause this though? Someone correct me if im wrong, but an internal failure of a check valve would just lead to the turbo leaking a bit when the engine is off. edit: there’s even an sb for the adel clamps and a specific type (with yellow fuel/oil resistant cushion) to use for the check valve s. -

Next thing we'll know and we'll have a bunch a new user that you can't get rid of: tennis players. -
Hmm, are you certain of that?

Thanks for posting that to make us aware of the seriousness of the matter. Please repost any more that you get like that so that we can keep track of...this serious situation.

I don’t think that’s a issue Jepp is the data that drives FF, one can’t replace the other. Also JeppPro and Foreflight share a TON of features, if anything JepPro (minus some taxi features) is a stripped down version of FF. Even for non rev pilots, I’d say overlaying the plate and verifying the effective dates is cheap insurance as computers do mess up, especially as we move more and more coding off shore I get the warm fuzzies on that dark stormy night when I see my official gov/jep plate overlay (best set to being semi transparent) and everything matches up. It’s not likely the “dynamic” stuff is going to be wrong, but if it was Im the one who’s going to end up just dental records, not the dude coding in India, or the corp CEO. Takes but a second and costs me nothing to view the overlay, that’s the cheapest insurance you’ll find in aviation

I think what @midlifeflyer was getting at is that with Jeppesen and ForeFlight being owned by the same entity, There may be some reluctance to have ForeFlight develop a feature /capability that would replace the Jeppesen product and cut in to their market. Hence enhancement rather than replacement.
-
Did you use the Garmin editor to create the file?
-
Just to clarify.... There is no change with the Chart/Approach Plate. FF is using Jepp data to create the Route display, Profile display and adding the new Approach Drawer on the side of the Map page. Whether you use Jepp or Gov Approach Plates and Enroute Charts, they will stay the same.

Bingo. For quite a number of years ForeFlight has been putting a lot of effort toward features that benefit the corporate pilots, along with military and airline pilots. Many of those translate well to the light GA pilots, many do not. So the Dynamic Procedures implementation had to preserve the things that support the corporate and airline flight departments' SOP requirements. It would be interesting to see how their market share is distributed across pilot certificates and ratings. I'm guessing that's available somewhere. Garmin appears focussed on making their aviation ecosystem have as much commonality and simplicity across their platforms as possible, Garmin Pilot included. This works well for most light GA pilots and aircraft owners, as well as business flight departments upgrading or purchasing new equipment. Anything that simplifies training and instrument flying is going to be popular with our market segment. Simplifying instrument approach procedure presentation the way they have is a brilliant move toward gaining buy-in from the incoming generations of student pilots.

Adding a landing/pulsating light to the J and K wingtip
PeteMc replied to Steve Dawson's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Are you sure the wingtip lights are considered experimental? Usually things that are approved in the US, especially from a company like Whelen, are also approved in Cda. -
This one appears to be a gear malfunction. A well executed landing. https://asn.flightsafety.org/wikibase/535733

huh, always been good to me on iPad/iphone When I hear about someone talking about too many ads on forums I always wonder “do they have a AOL email address”
-
At work when we brief or talk about plate it’s he always quickly reference the plate number and effective date. The big dogs there are jep pro (very foreflight based) for 121 and foreflight for 135 & 91, for whatever reason I have not heard of any flight departments running GP Not sure if there is any relation to still showing the actual plate and who uses the programs

Take a lot of pictures. Have your IA log the 208 inspection. Be sure to check for rust behind the gussets on tube clusters. Reinforce all the holes where the plastic attaches with glass cloth and ABS cement. ABS cement can be made from melting plastic parts (some use Leggos) in MEK which is nice if you need a color. The cement from the hardware store for gluing ABS plumbing pipe also works well if black is OK. Paint everything when done with SEM Colorcoat. Phantom white is a good color choice. You can get SEM in rattle cans, or by the quart. There is a lot of plastic when you get it all out and so I bought the material and had a paint shop spray it which saved me a lot of time and mess. While you have the carpeted sidewalls out, take the wemac eyeball vents out of the pilot and copilot side and take them apart and clean them. Be mindful of screw lengths when you put it all back together - there are some places where too long a screw will poke through something you don't want it to poke through.

I have a wire to the O2 fill port door and connect the BM there. -
Yes, agree, and that's really the difference between the FF and GP implementations. FF augments the heritage approach plates with tailored summary data, and GP obsoletes the heritage plates and doesn't require reference to them. Both are improvements that work.

I just find comps on all the usual sites. Guess you could pay someone to do that too, not sure why you would though

Try Brave browser

I was talking foreflight no reason not to map overlay the plate (like in my pic) which is a near instant check of the data. Same way I brief my approach (before top of d) and verify the legs/alts/speeds in the box match what my EFB states, set mins, note the missed alt to dial in on final, and important notes or notams and which way I want to exit the runway, after that I really don’t need to look at the EFB again until taxi.
-
Are you talking about Garmin Pilot SmartCharts? It's not necessary to "verify" SmartCharts, all the relevant and required data is presented in a completely stand-alone, tailored format. However, Garmin gives you the option to switch between SmartCharts and and Jepp/NOS plates with a single button on the SmartCharts page. I think this is really a crutch to help folks get comfortable with using SmartCharts while still having the familiar Jepp/NOS plates immediately available. Smart on their part. No pun intended.

Changing the advertising is on my list of to-do's for the site but it is a lot of work I don't have time to dive into right now. Like I said before the current system is a simple one line of code drop in for the site and the other way would be to setup an ad delivery system like Google Ad Manager and insert ad locations manually into pages. For now, if new users cannot deal with the ads and can't pay to be a supporter then they will have to go to another site to get their Mooney community I suppose. -
@OSUAV8TER Thank you for the advice. I just placed an order through your website. I will leave the rear-facing halogens in place to maintain the dimmer function.
