I am looking for cowl plugs for an M20E.

Any advice on where to order/which to get?

I live in Germany. So a European source would be ideal, but I can also order from a US company.

Bruce's covers makes some good ones. Do you have the cowl closure?

If you do not have the cowl closure I have a set from my former plane free just pay shipping.  Drawback is they have my former tail number embroidered on them.

This is what the lower cowl closure looks like. It should be visible behind my Mooney Ambassador prop tags.

Jim Cancil, Planecover, Salisbury MD (the other cover maker who advertises in Mooney mags) also makes custom plugs.

When I first bought my E, I was in an open on one side T hanger so needing something right away, I cut a couple of hunks of urethane foam to shape and covered them with nylon socks I had laying around from Delta Air Business Class freebees. Connected them with a badge lanyard that had alligator clips on both ends, added a "remove before flight" streamer. socks match blue trim of plane. I guess I'll get some store bought plugs sometime...

I should mention I have a J cowl on my E.

I am a chapter member of the CB club so I made my own cowl plugs from 2 inch foam insulation. The pink extruded polystyrene can be easily cut with a sharp knife and sanded to fit withnsand paper. Next, a little vinyl faux leather, I preferred red and covered the plugs with the red vinyl. It wasn't hard to sew them up. Be sure the foam is sized so that when covered with the vinyl they still fit proper.
