ChristianGodin Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Does anyone knows if there is any ways to get altitude hold with a "Pathfinder P2A" autopilot. Also, an idea of how much it would cost to upgrade the Pathfinder Autopilot to a more modern autopilot? Thank You. Quote
kerry Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 The P2A is designed to be upgraded to a P3A which has altitude hold. U.S. avionix was the makers of pathfinder autopilot and they are currently out of business. My understanding is an S-tec with Alt hold is 10k+. Quote
DaV8or Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Actually, you can add an S-Tec sytem 30 altitude hold as a stand alone feature to your plane with any auto pilot. You don't need the whole System 30 to get altitude hold. For a certified airplane, it looks like about $8,000 installed. Not cheap and not ideal, but it may be the OP's only option. https://www.pacificcoastavionics.com/products/415-system-30-alt.aspx Quote
N601RX Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 The Brittain Altitude hold is STC'd for the M20 through M20J with the G model not included. The STC is independent of what other autopilot systems are installed. The parts are difficult to find, but if you find them the total cost is a fraction of the cost of the S-Tec. It doesn't have altitude preselect, but does a good job of holding altitude once turned on. Quote
