takair
Could you use Adel clamps in place of the collar?
tomn
They might, you could give it a try and see if the mount feels sturdy enough with them. Would be interesting to see....
bnicolette
Thanks so much to Tom for hooking me up with the mounts for the extinguisher. I love it in this location and it works great. The location that is.......I hope to never have to use the extinguisher!!
takair
Just mounted mine to the above discussed seat location. I was able to use DG-12 Adel clamps. Added a little tape around the seat handle first to provide a little more grip and prevent rotation. Ended up putting it on the pilot side. Was afraid that a passenger getting in would step on it in the copilot location. Older folks have a bad enough time getting in.

I've got my seat (height/recline) exactly where I want it so I'll never need to adjust that part of it.
carusoam
Jim, You're gonna need a contrasting color... That's a lot of red! Best regards, -a-

rbridges
My (Halon) unit is mounted longitudinally between the seat rails touching the front of the back seat bulkhead. I can reach it easily, but the left rear seat passenger has to step across it. I seldom have rear seat passengers, so the convenience to me trumps the inconvenience to them. Frankly, I don't know what it is bolted to - I assume the floor.: LASAR checked it out initially, and takes it out at every annual, so that location, and how it is mounted must be OK. I also keep a smaller Halon unit in the pilot side foot well pouch. Is Halon the type extinguisher to have? Is there any other option? I need to get one installed in my plane. DAVIDWH
I keep mine securely bolted to a massive steel beam in hangar.
NotarPilot
I cut a backplate to secure the mount to the carpet in the backseat as illustrated.
DonMuncy
I was looking through my "odds and sods" at the hangar and found that I still had a pair of the split collars I prepared for mounting a fire extinguisher on the seat adjustment bar. They are the 3/4 inch ID variety and after building them, I discovered they were the wrong size for my plane. (I later got the correct size for mine and built me another set.) Since they were furnished to me by Openskyflyer, he has first shot at them, but if he doesn't, they are available to anyone who would like to have them, for the cost of shipping.
BigTex
Don, I'll take it if no one else has claimed them.
