how lost ??

unless it litterally disappeared, you can overhaul it ~$200 to $400 . there a few speciallized repair stations.

or try eBay. They are inexpensive, especially if you don't need A/P output

Sigma tek are fine

Scott, we had ours OH at Aircraft Quality Instruments in Wichita. IIRC it was around 250-300$. We paid an extra 80$ and got it internally lighted upgrade. Ours is a Mitchell 52D54 gyro with AP outputs and heading bug.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I was looking at getting a rebuilt one from aircraft Spruce for $500. I like the idea of adding internal lighting as my DG could not accept bezell light due to length. Good stuff thanks again Scott

Send it to Bob Bramble in Sarasota, Scott. He overhauled my Sigma Tek DG with autopilot takeouts and heading bug a couple of years ago for something less than $500. He came highly recommended and I will happily pay the recommendation forward.

Jim

I will have to second that. And he doesnt charge anything to take a look at it and give you his honest opinion.

Hi Scott! I may have one for you. Ill need to check the PN this weekend. But we upgraded to an HSI last fall. I believe the unit was replaced or overhauled in 2010 with under 100hrs on it. It was fully functional when removed. Let me know, And I'll double check for you.

Thanks Matt!

not sure what type of gyro you are looking for.

do you need autopilot output or not is the main question.

if looking for a standard 4000B type , then plenty of them on sale on ebay in the 100-300 range. some have light.

Yes, 4000b basic. Jumping to heading bug is HUGE price jump!

I will look on ebay again. Did not see much that looked ready to go

That would be great! With rebuilt models for $200ish my price would be low....

O.K. Just looked on eBay again. There are three. I was watching one just rebuilt, but 5 days to go and already at $200....so might as well have mine rebuilt as is in great cosmetic condition. By the way it laid down right after annual. Filter was changed on vacuum system and it craps out on first flight....coincidence? Doubt it. What am I missing

That's ok... Like to see some one use it. ADI too if needed. I know the ADI was installed in 2010.

Let me make sure about the DG. Ill check our records.

Thanks MB.

If you don't already have a heading bug , you don't want one.

Heading bug = autopilot output which means more money.

It should not go much higher than 200

Aircraft quality instrument is a good repair station

All in all, I believe you will end up paying about 300

Update: ended up buying an Edo-aire w/ heading bug that is compatible with Brittain Accu-flite heading tracker. Bought system on EBay and on/off switch/cables from Brittain. Looking forward to getting it installed. Most can be done by an A&P per install/STC...
