xftrplt Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 I need a replacement turbo oil return check valve, P/N 367-00 (TCM P/N 641068). It's about 2' long, and the first quote I have from a MSC is $650.(!) Any suggestions on how to avoid highway robbery? Thanks, Dick Cell 301-501-4601 Quote
kortopates Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Checked TCM web site, their List price is $683.49, which is what you should expect to pay from any TCM distributor. Unless you can find someone selling surplus units cheeper you probbly won't beat that price - or if your willing, you should also be able to find a serviceable used one. Quote
xftrplt Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 Thanks, Paul. I hadn't thought of the TCM website. Quote
kortopates Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 I see Preferred Airparts http://www.preferredairparts.com/ has 32 serviceable units in stock. You have to check with them for a price. But I'd suggest googling the TCM part number and you might get lucky finding a discounted source on a new one. Quote
xftrplt Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 Again, Paul, thanks for the excellent information! I'm getting RFQ's from them. I had tried Googling the P/N, to no avail. (Been flying 50 years, and in all but the last 6, maintenance entailed simply writing up the squawk. It's a brave new world.) 1 Quote
N601RX Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 Check with aeroinstock and aircraft specialties. I purchased all my internal engine parts from them. They had the cheapest prices and have a large stock. If they don't call and they will drop ship from manufacturer. I just looked at aeroinstock. $591 Any chance cleaning your old one out good would help? http://www.aeroinstock.com/products/NjQxMDY4/5930/40753/product_detail/index.html Quote
xftrplt Posted October 16, 2012 Author Report Posted October 16, 2012 601RX, My A&P said he tried cleaning the old one but no luck. An MSC will sell me a new one for $550. ASS needs to order one: 2 weeks/$630. Thanks for the suggestions. Quote
xftrplt Posted October 19, 2012 Author Report Posted October 19, 2012 Quick update: Purchased a ultrasonic cleaner for $60, and will report later on results. Seems like a good gamble,, and SWMBO will get clean jewelry, regardless. Quote

xftrplt Posted October 19, 2012 Author Report Posted October 19, 2012 Thanks, 1RX. After cleaning, it passes compressed air with no restriction in the correct direction, while allowing no flow the other way. It's a small sealed unit, and I believe it has a rubber (or some sort of soft material) seal. We'll reinstall the valve and see how it goes. Quote
KSMooniac Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Good luck! If the "repair" is successful you should broadcast the tip far and wide. Quote
