The-sky-captain Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 So who all is flying somewhere for Thanksgiving? I've got a short jaunt to central Arkansas to visit the in-laws. (The flight is the best part of the holiday:) Fly safe everybody. Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 KS-->TX for me, plus a day trip within TX and can't wait! Quote
N6843N Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Heres to blue skies and tailwinds for both of you. Mines tore apart so I will use the holiday for some quality hanger time. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 FSDO ride on Friday and hopefully leaving the plane in Dallas for some avionics work! Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Parker, do you have a ride back to Waco? I'm hopefully heading to the area on Saturday. Quote

KSMooniac Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Cool. Good luck! I hope to hear about CFI Woodruff on Friday! Quote
GeorgePerry Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 We are going to be in three different states, meeting with 2 groups of friends and one big family get together, 350 nm apart and we'll do it in 2 1/2 days.  Best of all there won't be any traffic jams to deal with in the Mooney. Can't do that in a car. KSMooniac Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 It is so nice to look down on jammed interstates while blissfully scooting along overhead at 3x the speed! Quote

jkb458 Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 I'll be bringing my plane home for the first time!!! I just finished my insurance minimums last week. My airplane stayed behind to get a few tweaks before coming to her new home. I'll be flying from middle GA to north GA. Only 100 NMs, but I'm wondering if anyone else will enjoy flying as much as I will on Saturday!!! Quote

Flybeech21 Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 I am working through the whole thanksgiving holiday. Today to Monday. The schedule shows between 8-10 hours of flying a day for the next three days...  ughhhh.  Looks like chinese take out in a Hilton for thanksgiving dinner. Quote
Jeff_S Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 Flying a short jaunt to have Thanksgiving with my folks, but then heading to Missouri on Sunday (weather permitting) to look at a Mooney that could soon be mine. Â Wish me luck! Quote
Cruiser Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 Port Clinton, Ohio PCW to Grand Rapids, Michigan 08C. Our normal flight to visit the kids, about an hour long vs. 4½ hrs. in the car. We decided to leave yesterday and get there before the low pressure frontal system moved in. It started raining shortly after we got here. A little headwind this time, we were only getting 17.6 mpg.  Quote
Dan Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 I flew, not a Mooney, but a Cessna 150 trainer. My first "real" flight. A 100 nautical mile solo flight.Great flight over the finger lakes of NY. It went smooth, though I did get some carb ice that needed to be taken care of. I am ontrack for a checkride down the road if all goes well. Then if all goes great... getting a Mooney. Dan Quote

Dan Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Actually you are right!! I did fly further. I think it was in a 707 maybe? Any rate, I was a passenger on a cross country flight. commercial that is.. I have been splitting my time between upstate NY, country airstrip flying (NK74), and Oakland (OAK). Worlds apart. NK74 is a grass strip in the middle of some very beautiful scenery, And Oakland is class C inside SFO class B airspace. Both areas of flying have given me very different sets of flying skills. (flying costs are also worlds apart...). The-sky-captain Posted December 23, 2009 Author Report Posted December 23, 2009 Heading south about 150 nm to central Ark for a night with the inlaws. The next day we are heading to NW Missouri to visit some more family members. Merry Christmas everybody. Fly safe. Quote

Mooney_Allegro Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 I flew to Reading, PA, to visit my family for Thanksgiving. I opted to fly on the airlines vs. Mooney, due to the unpredictable weather this time of year. Quote
The-sky-captain Posted November 15, 2012 Author Report Posted November 15, 2012 Anybody flying to a turkey day destination? I'll be making the obligatory flight to central Arkansas to hang with the in-laws. Good stuff... Quote
Oscar Avalle Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 My plan was to fly to Belize and spend the week there... Now somebody at HQ (Washington DC) decided that it was a brilliant idea to hold a "Leadership forum" in DC tomorrow till Wednesday and then another one from next Monday to Friday... so instead of sitting in N9341V I will be spending quality time on American Airlines and at the Miami Airport... Bummer.... Quote
