But it is all good. Great day for flying with a tailwind. Quote

Dave Marten Posted November 24, 2012 Report Posted November 24, 2012 Having a great Thanksgiving flying the Mooney to see friends and family! MHV-RYN-ABI (for work) then ABI-EOS-1C5(Chicago-family). On to BLV, (St Louis) for Thanksgiving. back home to Cali on Monday. Fun trip, just keeping legs short for kids! Quote
TonyPynes Posted November 24, 2012 Report Posted November 24, 2012 Leave 3MY(near Peoria) Sunday after a week of Thanksgiving with in laws. Very nice winds to cut my 3.5 hour flight to KGSO 2.5....barring any pee breaks. Quote

Stefanovm Posted November 24, 2012 Report Posted November 24, 2012 I had to drive the 200 miles to and from our meal. N5520Q is in the shop with a breadown probably more expensive than the one I had in 2010 about this time of the year. That took three months to get fixed. This one is about 20 hours estimated labor time, about the same as last time. The parts seem to be going to be several $K more expensive for this breadown, but hopefully the A&P/IA I am using now works on it in a quicker manner. My wife also prefers the 1+ hour flight to the 3+ hour drive from 07TS (georgetown, TX) to 37TE (Hitchcock, TX). We did stop and look at a Rocket in West Houston KIWS. It is way too expensive for my pocket book, but was a fun diversion. 1 Quote
TonyPynes Posted November 25, 2012 Report Posted November 25, 2012 3MY to Kgso, 9500 3 hours from start to finish..... Gotta love tailwinds in a Mooney. That is the perfect ending to a holiday trip. Quote
smccray Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Scott, you used my favorite words... "My wife requested to fly" -a- Yep- and she really liked looking down at the traffic on I35. It probably would have been a 4 hr drive... instead we got a 1 hour flight. She even overlooks a botched landing in Austin that required a go around...with my father in law watching. Fortunately only my pride was damaged. Quote
