tcal780 Posted September 1 Report Posted September 1 My POH binder is getting a little tired. Plus, with all the supplements and continued airworthiness pages, mine is packed. What are y'all doing for POH binders? I know most of us rarely need to open it, but it would be nice to have a more durable replacement. I was trying to find an aluminum binder, maybe 1.5" rings, but there doesn't seem to be much available. Tcal
EricJ Posted September 1 Report Posted September 1 It can be electronically stored, but needs to be in the aircraft and accessible, like on your EFB. Many people do that these days to save space and weight in the aircraft. The caveat is that whoever is flying the airplane the records need to be there. They same standards for accuracy and correctness apply to the electronic copies as the paper documents. Otherwise any suitable binder works.
Fritz1 Posted September 1 Report Posted September 1 put POH into old 2" Jeppesen leather binder, with all the supplements it is almost full, nice memory piece, but probably weighs close to 1 lb, thinking about scanning the whole thing, have checklist on a knee board and emergency checklist in side pocket in pilot footwell
Hank Posted September 1 Report Posted September 1 I keep my ancient, browning booklet in the seat back pocket (because it's required), with electronic versions on phone and tablet. Checklists copied from the Owners Manual are pn my kneeboard, along with most of the Performance Tables for easy reference. It's amazing what you can fit on 8-1/2 x 11 paper printed in booklet format! Then do the tables in a spreadsheet and paste into the document. What an amazing coincidence that the kneeboard is exactly the size of a piece ofmpaper folded in half . . .
PT20J Posted September 1 Report Posted September 1 Just go to Staples or wherever you buy office supplies and get a standard binder as thick as you need. If you get the type that has clear plastic pockets on the cover and spine, you can print inserts and make it look as fancy as you want.

Tcal Search is your friend on Mooneyspace: https://mooneyspace.com/search/?q="POH BINDER"&quick=1&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy - - - - - What I've used it the past which have held up well:
dkkim73 Posted September 1 Report Posted September 1 I used this for a separate copy of regular and emergency checklists living up-front in the side ankle pockets (the leather ring binder full offical AFM type POH lives in back within reach when needed): https://flyboys.com/collections/frontpage/products/checklist-book-ring-combopak the rings are better than the typical ones, so I also bought extra for my kneeboard, for oft-visited airport diagrams, quick refs, notepads. Yup, still use a regular kneeboard. I found thin stone tablets with a 7-hole pattern so that, when I get a clearance I can easily chisel it down...
CCAS Posted September 2 Report Posted September 2 This one worked for me: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0792L8R4T?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
tcal780 Posted September 2 Author Report Posted September 2 Thanks all. I think ill make an electronic PDF version for my ipad/foreflight for quick reference and get a flexible plastic binder to keep a hard copy in the plane. While I'm the only one flying it, it's probably still best to have the hard copy for backup and avaliable for ramp checks.

You should be okay on a ramp check, but I have seen mechanics who insist that they will not sign off an airplane as airworthy unless they see the POH in the airplane. Fortunately, since you will have it on your tablet, you can always put the hard copy somewhere in the baggage compartment instead of in a seat pocket. 1
kortopates Posted September 2 Report Posted September 2 Mooney used nice leather day timer leather binders towards the end of their production - lots of availability of these.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you are concerned about ramp checks, make sure the W&B is up to date and all the AFMS documents are current for the equipment and software versions installed. 1
