Rick Junkin Posted July 18 Report Posted July 18 Is this old news? It was in an AOPA email today. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2025/july/17/faa-grants-limited-turbocharger-clamp-ad-extension?utm_source=ebrief&utm_medium=email
Pinecone Posted July 18 Report Posted July 18 That looks like brand new info. It would be nice if they provided a list of which engines and what the new limit is for them.
ad5ut Posted July 18 Report Posted July 18 The AMOC linked in the article applies specifically to Continental part 653332 and includes the TSIO-360-GB and -LB engines on Mooney 231s. It allows the inspection process to continue until April 15, but only if the bands can be determined to have a time in service of less than the hour or year TBO of the engine, so 1,800 hours or 12 years for my -GB.
Ragsf15e Posted July 18 Report Posted July 18 That part number isn’t available yet. The one for mb/sb engines is available as a new part number and riveted. Having to be able to log the specific hours on the old ones would have been a problem for me as mine wasn’t logged when it was changed last time or ever?
Z W Posted July 18 Report Posted July 18 Someone should tell the FAA how to look up part numbers to check prices on AirPower or Aircraft Spruce... 1
kortopates Posted July 19 Report Posted July 19 Someone should tell the FAA how to look up part numbers to check prices on AirPower or Aircraft Spruce... At the time the AD was written that was what the clamps cost! But as soon as it came out a lot of owners bought up the existing inventory very quickly creating a shortage.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pinecone Posted July 20 Report Posted July 20 Yes, I have a clamp from right after the AD that was around that price. And one of the new riveted ones that is about 2.5x that price.
