Playing with ForeFlight (all new to me.  so much capability in an app, and cheaper than buying a new, dedicated portable aviation GPS)

I'm near DC, and had turned off the TFRs notice since DC is under a permanent SFRA and the TFR just covers up so much area. Then I play-planned a flight up to Wilmington DE (KILG) near my 2nd house.  Now that I'm at KCJR on the southwest side of the SFRA monstrosity, I had planned a route going around the west side of DCA and then north of BWI.  Ughh, what a detour compared to flying out of my old field (W32) next to Andrews AFB south of DC.  Plus the west route avoids going over the Chesapeake Bay, something I've always loved doing.  For grins,  I decided to plan a second route weaving through the airspaces on the south and east of the DC SFRA and up over the Bay.

Before doing that, I popped the TFR notices back on and suddenly a gigantic TFR over Rehoboth, Delaware popped up.  It's the size of the DC SFRA!!!  SFC to 17,999!!  For one old man semi-permanently stationed in a beach chair somewhere!  Holy crackers, Batman!

What a PITA for anybody based at one of these fields.  I accepted the FRZ as a permanent fact of life basing at a DC3 airport, but at least I got an airport sort of nearby and a hangar out of it.  I'll spare everybody the rest of the rant and commentary.  LOL

The "expanded" SFRA has always been there, but the only restriction is 230 KIAS for VFR.

A change in the way the NOTAM was put out made it suddenly pop up on FF.

NOTHING changed, just how FF decoded the NOTAM.  Mine is showing properly now.

Yep, that one.  I just cracked up imagining JB in a beach chair with a 60 mile diameter circle of protection overhead.  Big as DC SFRA or a 30 mile mode C veil.
