Looking to purchase an M20E, but need to get at least 10 hours with a CFI who has at least 20 hours in a M20E (and 300 TT, 100 Complex/Retractable Gear).

...where in the world do I find someone like that? I've been scouring the internet and it's been nearly impossible, so I'm hoping other owners might know someone who knows someone, otherwise I don't understand how people ever get off the ground with these things!

Thanks in advance!

I'm a CFI and own an M20E. I meet all of the requirements listed and have done Mooney insurance checkouts before. I am in southwest Florida. Where are you?

I'm from Orlando originally, but sadly the plane in question and myself are up in Indianapolis. A bit of a haul, and since I can't reposition it without the endorsement, might be tricky. Not sure how flexible you are and what you would need to make it worth your while, but if we could knock it out in a weekend, that would be awesome. I will keep researching and see if there's a closer candidate (not saying better or any more or less qualified!) - but definitely let me know if you would be willing to make yourself available to welcome another member to the Mooney Maniacs, or whatever you call yourselves...

Oh. Though, right before I hit send, I guess the flip side is that I can also come down there and we can fly using yours, though obviously comes with its own cost as well. Crunch some numbers, chew on it and let me know a ballpark for either scenario, please and thank you.

If that doesn't work out, you should call Jeff Schnabel. I bought an ovation at IndyAir and he came out and flew it back to Las Vegas with me.

Thank you! Will reach out and explore that option. Really appreciate all the help so far in such a short amount of time.

If you haven't had any luck yet, try to clarify with your insurance.  I've got an m20c and they asked for same make and model, but when I pushed them to define that it turned out they were ok with the whole type code of M20P which is c,e,f and g at least.  That opened up the cfi options in my area a quite a bit.

I did ask them yesterday about that and they said they would need to look up the CFI for approval, so I would first need to identify someone who is available and then get them approved, which I am not against. Unfortunately the plane locally didn't work out, so having to look in the PNW, and restarting the search all over again...

Good evening,

Searching for similar.   A20 Sun Valey AZ area about 1hr drive from Las Vegas.

I need 3hrs minimum to solo, and need a 300hr total time CFI with 100hrs retract and 15hrs Mooney.   Any M20 time counts does not have to be M20B which is the lil cutie I'm looking to bring home to Texas.

Had a CFI on field but he had something come up that will prevent his involvement for some time.

Luckily spent a lil extra on "anytime" airline tickets...

Any help appreciated,

Rob

I just spoke to a CFI that is in the Indy area.  His travel fees hurt but being right there near Indy might be a match.

email me  skypunk107@hotmail.com  and I'll send his contact directly, but may be a lil much for me to share his cell digits publicly
