BlueSky247 Posted June 11 Author Report Posted June 11 Well, at this point, you guys have me thinking just drive up there and camp in the back of the truck. It's "only" a 14 hour drive. 1 Quote

Skates97 Posted June 18 Report Posted June 18 I was there in 2021 with a friend and 2023 with my wife. Flew Fisk both times and camped by the plane. Too many other commitments this year including a kid getting married in Sept and one in Oct that are eating up the vacation time to get there this year, but will likely be back in 2025 (unless we fly to Alaska next year instead). I wrote up all of it, getting there, the show, and getting home. 2021 Oshkosh - Getting There 2021 Oshkosh - The Show 2021 Oshkosh - Getting out of Dodge 2023 Oshkosh - The Journey There 2023 Oshkosh - Round Up 2023 Oshkosh - Award and Getting Home 1 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted June 18 Report Posted June 18 Twice I have flown into Wisconsin Dells, which is a fun place. There was a rental car place across the street from the airport. The rooms are cheap and plentiful. If you camp at your plane, try to get a spot in the NW corner so you can sneak through the fence to Friar Tuck's for food and beer. The hangar flying at the bar is amazing. Quote

BUT…. the down side is you are as far away from a shower as you could possibly be. A big down side. 1 Quote
M20F Posted July 26 Report Posted July 26 I hate a headwind but made it with about 15 mins to spare. Got right in before the Cirrus Mass Arrival. Quote

There was a shower trailer about 100 yards east of me. That was 2013. I guess I should go back some time. 1 Quote
BlueSky247 Posted July 27 Author Report Posted July 27 Back to the hotel after my first day ever. I was prepared for the sun and the walking, but no one warned me about the whiplash. Between all the pretty planes and scenery, my neck got a real workout - especially during the jet fighter demos. Hear the boom of afterburners and immediately whip around to see where they are. What an awesome show! P.S. I was really impressed with the Snowbirds. I’d never seen them live before. A very graceful performance. 3 Quote
