Fritz1 Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 my TIT is acting up, all over they place, typically reads too low, cleaned blade connector, still same, think probe is fried, replaced it 4 or 5 years ago with a K-Probe from a shop in California, I think that shop shut down, called JPI, they asked me to dig through their catalog and pick one. Anybody got a JPI part # for the TIT probe for the TIO-540-AF1B? Quote
adverseyaw Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 One relevant JPI P/N is Kit-1200, which seems to be a generic TIT probe. This is what was installed in my Bravo, although it was done in conjunction with my JPI 930 installation. I don't have a part number for the probe that connected to the original engine instruments unfortunately. J.P. Instruments TIT Probe - J.P. Instruments (jpinstruments.com) Quote
kortopates Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 JPI uses a grounded K type probe which is not compatible with your ungrounded Mooney TIT probe. Quote

Read through this thread:  I would also call these people to see if they can provide one for you: http://www.ksavionics.com/  As you probably realize, these probes live in a very harsh environment and as they burn out they indicate a lower temperature than is accurate. I have heard of probes on a Bravo being burned up in 200 hours, especially if run at 1650 or higher. Fritz1 Posted April 9 Author Report Posted April 9 Lance, Thank you, will call KS tomorrow, think they bought the probe business from the California guy where I bought my last probe. I run 1600 TIT max, but the probe probably has 400-500h on it by now. -Fritz Quote
Fritz1 Posted April 10 Author Report Posted April 10 Sent email and called KS electronics, no joy, sounds like they have not resurrected the probe business yet after moving it from CA. Found Alcor 10-86309 at McFarlane for $810 which I will order by close of business today unless something better comes up, will call Lasar next Quote
Fritz1 Posted April 10 Author Report Posted April 10 Called Lasar, no stock for Mooney part # 880 055-505, which was made by Alcor, Mooney does not order parts from vendors any more, so the available part is the Alcor 10-86309 which I will order from McFarlane at $810 by close of business today unless something better comes up. Aircraft Spruce lists Alcor 10-86309 for substantially less, but "available to order" rather than "in stock". https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/inpages/alcor86309.php Also the McFarlane listing I saw is $621? https://www.mcfarlaneaviation.com/products/product/86309/ Cheers, Junkman Quote
Fritz1 Posted May 12 Author Report Posted May 12 Alcor 10-86309 TIT probe works perfectly in the Bravo, like the small radiator on the probe, KS avionics did not answer their phones, their probe lasted about 400h Quote
