larrynimmo Posted October 4, 2023 Report Posted October 4, 2023 My 201 m20j 14v havr a bad starter solenoid….where can I get one
ArtVandelay Posted October 4, 2023 Report Posted October 4, 2023 Skytec has PMA starter solenoids, not Mooney original model so a slight modification to mounting may be required. 1
EricJ Posted October 6, 2023 Report Posted October 6, 2023 Usually when the old starters fail people just replace them with a SkyTec or B&C, both of which are much lighter and turn the prop faster than the original starter. Otherwise you might be able to take it to an electric motor shop to get it repaired. The original starter is essentially a tractor starter.

larrynimmo Posted October 6, 2023 Author Report Posted October 6, 2023 The coil was “shunted” and will trip the 10 amp breaker for the solenoid AI and I installed the PMA solenoid from spruce… to reduce wire tension, we had to push slack starter wire from engine compartment into the cab.
EricJ Posted October 6, 2023 Report Posted October 6, 2023 Did you mean the relay? Thought you meant the solenoid on the starter.
larrynimmo Posted October 6, 2023 Author Report Posted October 6, 2023 My original one was a SAZ9201A…. starter solenoid….
