I wanted to give a heads up to anyone wanting to visit Vegas between Oct 2023 through Feb 2024.  Landing fees at KVGT and KHND are going to be increased. On a recent briefing I got a NOTAM saying you need to call and prearrange in order to land at KVGT for transit aircraft.  I'm based at VGT so it doesn't apply to me.  I was in the terminal building today and inquired about the NOTAM.  I was told starting this Oct. landing fees will be $500 per day because of the new Sphere attraction opening.  When Formula 1 starts fees will be $3000 per day.  Seems like general aviation is not welcomed in Vegas at this time.

It was the same around here for the Superbowl, including a bunch of flight restrictions, including no pattern work or touch-and-goes, only IFR traffic on our south runway at DVT, etc., etc.   Was stupid expensive to get in or out of here.

Sounds like it'll be maybe longer or more frequent there.

I only see a notam for today and tomorrow and it just requires prior arrangement of parking, no additional fees.  Do you have any additional information available?  Thanks

I was planning to fly to Vegas today and wanted to stay over the weekend to visit family.  Saw the NOTAM and called both airports (Henderson and N Las Vegas). They were both charging an event fee of $500.

We decided to drive.  Actually we are driving to Vegas now and dreaming about flying instead :(

Jeez I just got lucky had a birthday party for my daughter turned 50, landed at Henderson on the 24th and departed 27th. Tha place is a rat race, first  raiders home game, ramp full of small and medium jets, I do believe they don’t want to be bothered with us. OTOH the staff and line people were great.

Maybe it is actually due to increased GA, as in private jets, just not our mosquitoes. Airlines are full, seats are tiny, airport experience is awful. No wonder more of the affluent are flying private jets. Though they may be carrying 2-3 pax whereas you can bring 4-6 pax in a piston, jets cost a lot more to travel. So I'm not surprised that airports want to  cater to those clients...

Are there any satellite airports within reasonable taxi distance that our mosquitoes can land at?

I think that's pretty much it.   You can look at the ramp space at many, many airports and see the growing effects of wealth disparity, in the increasing number of turbines and jets vs recip aircraft, and the amount of ramp space allocated to the same differences.    Scottsdale airport has undergone a pretty radical (but consistent) change over the last twenty years, and Deer Valley is undergoing a similar change right now.   So if there's any kind of event (spheres, sports, whatever) that might increase the amount of jet/turbine traffic, recips will be on the short end of the stick unless they're willing to pay the same fees that the turbine/jet crowd are willing to pay.

I don't see those forces changing any time soon.

They got into it with Signature when they were charging 400 dollar fees for single engine airplanes and they got it knocked down. I understand PPR for big events etc, but 500 dollar charge  across the board is absurd. There are Federal rules on equal and reasonable access even for FBO's because they have to operate within the lease agreements with the airports and the airports have to answer to the FAA since they receive Federal funding. Fees have to be commensurate for the aircraft size and weight which is why most airports base fees upon maximum landing weight.

I needed a PPR last week in Henderson, there was an unbelievable amount of small and medium jets there last weekend. Actually most I’ve ever seen at one time. Rich and affluent abound.
