Starlifter27 Posted November 15, 2022 Report Posted November 15, 2022 All, I have a 2005 Bravo that I bought over the summer and keep in Ohio. The shop that was going to do the annual just lost two mechanics and no longer can do it. So I'm currently scrambling around to find a shop that might be able to do it in the near future. It's due this month, but obviously the odds are slim I could get it in anywhere in the next two weeks, so I'll probably have to get a ferry permit regardless. Initially I was looking in the Ohio vicinity, but at this point I'll consider anywhere pretty much in the eastern half of the country, although the midwest would be the most convenient. If anyone knows of a shop that might fit the bill, please let me know. Thanks a bunch! Tom 1 Quote
Pinecone Posted November 15, 2022 Report Posted November 15, 2022 Mine is with Byron at Fly RPM based at KGAI. https://flyrpm.com/ He is a regular here on MS. I talked to the other A&P working for Byron when I dropped the plane off, and he said 90% of their work are Mooneys. Quote
BravoWhiskey Posted November 15, 2022 Report Posted November 15, 2022 I used Weber Aircraft at LNS just this month. Same plane. 2005 Bravo. Quote
PhateX1337 Posted November 17, 2022 Report Posted November 17, 2022 I did mine for my new to me Bravo with Joe at Cole Aviation in north Georgia (I’m also based in Ohio - quick 1.5 hour flight). Great guy and great shop - very good communication and thoroughness. Will definitely go back Quote
exM20K Posted November 17, 2022 Report Posted November 17, 2022 assuming you had a good pre-buy and have no big show-stopper issues, maybe it would be best to do it locally and have a mooney expert like DMAX, Oasis, Air Mods, etc get you on the schedule for next year. Short staffed is pretty much the norm right now. Next year is unlikely to be worse. -dan Quote
rbp Posted November 17, 2022 Report Posted November 17, 2022 C&W Aero in CDW (N NJ) did an excellent job on mine. Quote
irishpilot Posted November 19, 2022 Report Posted November 19, 2022 I'm sure there are closer places to you, but Don Maxwell and Dugosh both have great reps and I've dealt with both. Don gets booked out way in advance, so plan ahead. Regardless of who you choose, be prepared for a fairly high 1st annual. Quote
Starlifter27 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Report Posted November 22, 2022 Thanks, everyone, Byron at Fly RPM is able to get it in the shop in a couple weeks. I appreciate the help! Quote
Pinecone Posted November 27, 2022 Report Posted November 27, 2022 Probably not long after he gets done with mine. Quote

chriscalandro Posted November 28, 2022 Report Posted November 28, 2022 Asks for a shop near Ohio or east coast, gets suggestions to go to texas… I’m sure there’s a quality shop that can do it closer than that. Quote

When you fly a Mooney… especially, a turbo LB… TX and FL are options people use… Some Mooniacs like to go to TX for particular expertise… Remember what the OP asked…. ”but at this point I'll consider anywhere pretty much in the eastern half of the country” Go MS! Go MSers! Best regards, -a- Quote
