Dude where’s my keys!?

I have a relatively new ignition switch and keys for sale if you want to go that route. It came out of my plane during my panel rebuild.

I’m still holding out hope the previous owner can find the key, next I’m consulting a locksmith I really don’t want to try to change that switch.

I have one of those on my 56 172. It works great after I rigged the cable and lever properly. It is a Holly choke cable…. Must be factory, that’s what was there when I bought it.

I was able to remove the baggage lock that matched the main entry door lock and have 2 keys made for $17.50 at my local locksmith, I just hope the starter switch is the same...

Why only two???

Keys to my plane:

1. a set for me
2. a spare set for me
3. a set for my wife
4. a set for my IA
5. a "loaner set" on a keychain with my N number
6. a spare set waiting for one of these to disappear . . .

Keys are cheap, what $1.50-$2 each? I've done the locksmith thing, and the big box store thing, all worked well.

2 keys to start off with, if they work on the main entry door and the ignition then yes I will make four hundred and eleven copies but not yet....

Leave my set tied to the oil filler tube.  I’ll stop by and pick them up later.

Well the keys worked in the main entry door and baggage but not the ignition! who wants to send me old keys to try?
