aerobat95 Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Hey guys....I am about to place an order with Aircraft Spruce for some needed supplies. My question is what do ya'll use to clean your windows? I have heard some people use Pledge???? I currently have been using Plexus. Any thoughts??? Ray Quote
jetdriven Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Ray, we have been using Clearview, and it works great. It even cleaned oil form a leaky crank seal off the windshield with one try. 5$ a can, its les than half the price of Plexus. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/avlcvcc.php Quote
201er Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 ^ More like 1/3 the price cause that's a 13oz can so comparable plexus is nearly $18. But is it just as good? The plexus seems really expensive but it does an outstanding job and lasts a long time. I would be thrilled to pay less for same but wouldn't really want to pay less for less in this case. Quote
OR75 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 You can find Plexus for cheaper in auto or motorcycle shop. Or places like Tap Plastics. An "Aviation" label or part # <=> inflated prices Quote
kerry Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 I've used lemon pledge in the past and it works good. Recently I've been using a lemon pledge knock off product from the dollar store. I like it better than lemon pledge. To me it seem about the same as plexus. You can't beat a buck per can. Quote
mooney2201 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 pledge.works great, has wax in it,,makes bug removal a cinch....dont use anything with alcohol base in it... Quote

M016576 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Has anyone tried using car headlight cleaner on the windshield? I just used some on the headlights for my jetta and they basically look brand new now... I was thinking about using it on a small corner of one of 91H's windows to see if it would clear up any imperfections (I've got a few marks here and there from my cover being whipped around in the wind from a few of my weekend trips... Prior to my Bruce's cover purchase: word to the wise- with a cheap cover you get what you pay for). Quote

M016576 Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Quote: fantom I'd try a product like Micro Mesh first. It was developed specifically for polishing jet windshields to maintain optical clarity. Great for repairing scratches and overspray also. Quote

I havn't saw it in person, but here is the link to their web site. They have some before and after pictures. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Aerospace/Aircraft/Solutions/Aviation-Window-Restoration-System/ Quote
