WAFI Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 Does anyone have picture of their J model fuel sender locations? Mainly the inter sender location. I believe its accessed from the inside of the fuselage, I could be wrong. Quote
Jeremy K Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 I just saw mine yesterday as they were chasing down a fuel leak in my J. You need to remove the interior panel next to your seat. It is located right behind that and is easy to access. Sorry I don't have a picture. Quote
EricJ Posted February 4, 2022 Report Posted February 4, 2022 Yes, the sidewall in front of the rear seat by the floor on each side. Quote
carusoam Posted February 5, 2022 Report Posted February 5, 2022 Every Mooney has a pair behind the cabin wall cover… It is good to get a look at them and see the rubber fuel line connector as well… These are potential sources of fuel drips as the parts age…. Larger fuel tanks have a second fuel level sensor on the outer end of the tank… There is a picture of one posted around here recently… Best regards, -a- Quote

carusoam Posted February 5, 2022 Report Posted February 5, 2022 KB is showing a great pic… A) is the sender that often doesn’t get a new seal, with proper torque on the screws…. B ) is the rubber connector on the fuel line that suffers from mage issues over the decades… This is an unbelievably clean area… nice work KB! Often, there is decades of dirt that settles in the area and many blue stains…. Best regards, -a- 1 Quote

GMBrown Posted April 28, 2022 Report Posted April 28, 2022 Sort of related to the fuel sender lines of inquiry, (didn't want to start a new line) I am looking for some guidance as to under which panel I'll find the wiring to the outboard fuel sender. I need to check the wiring to the outboard sender (looking for a broken wire) and didn't want to guess. I have a K 231 and there's a whole lotta panels in its wings. Appreciate any help. G Quote
Igor_U Posted April 28, 2022 Report Posted April 28, 2022 I don't have a K Service manual but you need to remove the first panel outboard of fuel tank Rib (just outboard of Fuel cap). SM pictures would help... 1 Quote
GMBrown Posted April 28, 2022 Report Posted April 28, 2022 Thanks. I went through the manuals again and I decided to start there too. I thought that the tanks extended further, but the outboard rib from the filler would be a logical place to start. Quote

Use extra caution regarding guessing where the fuel isn’t… Better to start too far away… and have to open another panel… Than to have fuel leak out of the first screw… Best to use a manual screw driver… Power driver, opening the wrong inspection panel, lit a young Mooney mechanic on fire… (best to be avoided) PP thoughts only… this occurred at my home drome… years ago… Best regards, -a- Quote
