FJC Posted November 1, 2021 Report Posted November 1, 2021 Anyone have this switch or red cover available? The plastic switch tabs are broken on mine. Thank you Freddy Quote

AH-1 Cobra Pilot Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 (edited) As long as they are Klixon switches, I have quite a few, even some in reverse colors. Edited February 12 by AH-1 Cobra Pilot Quote
FJC Posted November 2, 2021 Author Report Posted November 2, 2021 How does one identify klixon? I have a '97 Ovation...Also, what material do you use for printing? Thanks Freddy Quote

Thanks Freddy F, easiest way… post a pic of what you have… Or find a Klixon on the web and compare…. The switches are nicely marked… but, once in location they are hard to see the markings… Best regards, -a- Sensata/Klixon/Texas Instruments….. this should be close enough for identification purposes…. Compared to other switches… https://www.sensata.com/sites/default/files/a/sensata-20tc series-single phase rocker type actuator-datasheet_1.pdf Quote
FJC Posted November 7, 2021 Author Report Posted November 7, 2021 What material is used for printing these? Quote
LANCECASPER Posted November 7, 2021 Report Posted November 7, 2021 @AH-1 Cobra Pilot You have a question to answer Quote

AH-1 Cobra Pilot Posted November 8, 2021 Report Posted November 8, 2021 (edited) Mine are ABS. An acetone-based paint sticks well to them. Nylon might be better, but is difficult to paint. This is what Klixon covers look like from the back side. Edited February 12 by AH-1 Cobra Pilot Quote
V1VRV2 Posted November 13, 2021 Report Posted November 13, 2021 I just had one removed from my Ovation 2 panel. Let me see if the avionics shop still has it. Will get back to you on Monday. Quote

philip_g Posted November 16, 2021 Report Posted November 16, 2021 I would have guessed that the o are eta switches? A little silicone on the switch cover to hold it in place and it'll probably work for years if you can't find one Quote

I was thinking that either silicone or epoxy (more concerned as this as it would be hard to remove) would do the trick but would like to have a backup in case these do not work. I may just go ahead and order the printed type and give it a try. Freddy Quote

For awhile someone sold 3d printed eta covers. You'd have to sand and paint yourself but if you found the file I could print them for you What I did on a previous plane with eta switches was sand and paint the cover red, then used a label maker to print a label with black letters on clear label tape. Put that on the switch and clear coat over it. Then my mechanic glued the broken switch in place and I never used it. Lol. jaylw314 Posted November 16, 2021 Report Posted November 16, 2021 In case it turns out to be an ETA switch: https://www.shapeways.com/product/YR7FSMMJW/mooney-rocker-switch-cover-quot-eta-quot-type I replaced a bunch of mine with these. They're nylon and do require some sanding and finishing work if you want to stencil and paint them, but I found that the labels from my labelmaker are the same width as the top and bottom faces, so I just printed the text on them stuck them on and they work/look fine Quote
