Has anyone had one of the rubber couplers fail in their early electric gear C's or Execs?  Check out the photo.  While working on putting in a smooth belly kit from LASAR I found a chunk of rubber on the panel.  After further investigation, my IA partner goes "whoa....look at this".   If that coupler had failed completely, even manual extension would not work.  As I look at the design, am i right?

Hmmmm...

Lets see if @M20Doc is familiar with a rubber coupling falling apart in a landing gear motor for an M20C...

I don’t recall rubber couplings being in gear motors for M20Cs... that sounds like It would be an area of common failures...

I would share this with my friend @Hank because he has added engineering insight and an M20C... :)

Hey GWR, welcome aboard!

I missed the fact that it was your first post... :)

As my friend Rich above has confirmed that indeed a rubber part is used in there...

It probably is a spare part, available through Mooney...

If that is the case...

A call to your local MSC, with the data you have supplied, should speed your order on its way...

If you don’t have a local MSC... find Dan @LASAR Lasar.com or call via phone...

same Lasar that you got the belly panels from...

Dan is the awesome guy in the spare parts area with the most Mooney knowledge...

Do you know Dan already?

Best regards,

You are right Dan @LASAR has been completely awesome to work with; he hooked me up with everything I needed for my dorsal, gap seals, and smooth belly project.
