Mooney-Shiner Posted July 6, 2020 Report Posted July 6, 2020 (edited) Dear esteemed board, I would like to seek your opinion on something. During my engine inspection, I noticed the rear of generator is attached to the prop governor oil line. Additionally, there is no rubber sleeve and its a metal on metal contact. I looked through the IPC for IO-360A1A and didn't see this kind of attachment. Has anyone seen this kind of set up before? Edited July 6, 2020 by ukrsindicat@yahoo.com rearrangement Quote
RLCarter Posted July 6, 2020 Report Posted July 6, 2020 I think it’s more of the Generator being a support rather than the Oil Line being the support But either way my E didn’t have anything off the generator to hold the oil line 1 Quote
carusoam Posted July 6, 2020 Report Posted July 6, 2020 While looking for that solution... Also keep in mind that a fire sleeve on the oil line is probably a standard of today... PP thoughts only, not a mechanic... Best regards, -a- 1 Quote

EricJ Posted July 7, 2020 Report Posted July 7, 2020 I don't think there'd be an issue putting a cushion on that adel clamp. 1 Quote

This is my concern as well. There is a metal-on-metal contact between vibrating part (generator) and oil-line. I'm worrying that there is a potential for rupture and fire in-flight. Plus, I would like to confirm that this is a correct set up, as Lycoming IPC is showing something way different. Edited July 8, 2020 by ukrsindicat@yahoo.com Quote
Igor_U Posted July 8, 2020 Report Posted July 8, 2020 I am really not sure what you are referring to... Is there additional bracket attached to Item 1 of the IPC (aft bracket) holding the oil tube? I can confirm that my 67F has same setup as shown on Lycoming IPC. Quote
