Danb Posted April 30, 2020 Report Posted April 30, 2020 I've been looking for a few good books on aircraft maintenance, engine stuff etc., Is Mike's four books worth the investment or which ones would be beneficial. Are they available on the Ipad, I notice Kindle was available Quote
Andy95W Posted April 30, 2020 Report Posted April 30, 2020 Kindle has an App for the iPad, if nothing else. The App is free, works really well. 1 Quote
toto Posted May 1, 2020 Report Posted May 1, 2020 They're available for "free" if you have Kindle Unlimited. 1 Quote
DXB Posted May 1, 2020 Report Posted May 1, 2020 I've read Manifesto and Engines. Both were certainly worth it for me but I'm a relative noob still, 6 years into this hobby. Quote
flyer338 Posted July 30, 2020 Report Posted July 30, 2020 Great books. All four are sitting on my bookshelf. Quote
1001001 Posted July 30, 2020 Report Posted July 30, 2020 (edited) The "Engines" book is great, but tends to focus on Continental. The principles, of course, carry over, but it helps to realize that when he discusses specifics, they are usually Continental oriented. I have "Manifesto" as well, and I think I got less out of it than out of "Engines." Edited July 30, 2020 by 1001001 Quote
0TreeLemur Posted July 31, 2020 Report Posted July 31, 2020 Having read "Engines" just before my last annual gave me the knowledge to save several AMUs during my last annual. Highly worthwhile in my opinion. Quote
Skydancer2992 Posted July 31, 2020 Report Posted July 31, 2020 Before Mike Busch, Light Plane Maintenance was an excellent resource for DIY maintenance for the plane owner. I reread these periodically. Every A&P I've shown these to, wants them. Quote
hammdo Posted July 31, 2020 Report Posted July 31, 2020 I was lucky enough to get them at the used book store for $50 — all 7 Abe books still has them... -Don Quote
GeeBee Posted August 1, 2020 Report Posted August 1, 2020 Newbie or old pro, the Mike Busch books are worth the price of admission. 1 Quote
Matt Ward Posted August 3, 2020 Report Posted August 3, 2020 I've read all his books and concur, they're fantastic. But another way in is his Youtube channel. You'll find most of the stories and anecdotes from the books are in the videos. Go back a couple years and start with the basic ones: troubleshooting, rough running engines, spark plugs, etc. It's a great primer. 2 Quote
