I can see having a Mooney in Hawaii. Good way to get around. Each island is so different. I travel out there several times a year for work. It would be great to do more flying out there.

Except for the one engine with a thousand moving parts over the shark filled water.....other than that you are good to go........

In 1982 I went to Honolulu on vacation. I wanted to fly to another island so I rented a Tomahawk and got checked out. I have two landings at Honolulu International and 3 touch and gos at Ford Island. It was cool looking down at the submerged Arizona. My Instructor was Mimi Tompkins the co-pilot of the jet where the top came off. She made sure that the training took so long that I didn't have time to fly to Kawai. I did get to fly around the island with my girl friend.

Pat Maggie's sea planes would be fun too!!!

I'd have an LPU, waterproof ELT, and maybe a one man raft. I wouldn't be too worried. Driving on the roads is more dangerous.

Seriously. Kauai to HNL is like 85 miles, another 187 gets you to hilo. Lots of diversity in between. Avgas is about $6.50, so about 2 bucks more than by me. Good place for an efficient airplane.
