atmaurer Posted May 16, 2017 Report Posted May 16, 2017 I am looking at buying a M20D converted to RG and I was wondering what to expect for cruise speed? My first flight was around 135kt indicated, not sure if that is slow or reasonable. I would like to know if I would expect different results from a true M20C. Secondly, Anything I should be aware of in owning a M20D? Thanks much!

A good rule of thumb is to add 2% of indicated airspeed for every 1000 feet if altitude. For instance, my C often indicates 144 mph around 9000-10,000 msl. Add 144 + 18% = 170 mph. 3
Raptor05121 Posted May 16, 2017 Report Posted May 16, 2017 A M20D/C is the exact same as a M20C in respect to book speeds. Do you have a 2-blade or 3-blade? Mine is just shy of book speeds, I routinely get 145KTAS in cruise up high. Indicated will be MUCH lower. But whip out the E6B and calculate it. Here are some screenshots for you: A little tailwind... Another separate time... same TAS
Raptor05121 Posted May 16, 2017 Report Posted May 16, 2017 Just to remind me I'm not a peasant Cessna with Mach 0.15
