Cruiser Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 FInally! I got the plane back. New S-TEC System 55x works great so far. The System 30 is now in my possession and available. Part number is 01260-6-0-28 s/n 693 installed new at Mooney in 1999. The Altitude Hold module is 01261-45-28 s/n 2247A also new in 1999. Both have an avionics FAA release form 8130 I have some of the wiring and the connectors included. I can send pictures if you are interested in them. I would like to see this go to a fellow Mooney owner. Make me a fair offer and it is yours. 2
TWinter Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 Had my shop not wanted to do all of my upgrade as a one package deal this would have been a great opportunity. GLWS:)
Ratherbflying Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 Prospective buyers: Check with Genesys in the cost of the paperwork. S-TEC STCs are hull number specific. Genesys may have changed this, but Cobham wanted thousands of dollars to create the paperwork for used units. 2
Marauder Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 Prospective buyers: Check with Genesys in the cost of the paperwork. S-TEC STCs are hull number specific. Genesys may have changed this, but Cobham wanted thousands of dollars to create the paperwork for used units. I helped another Mooney owner with this. This was at least a year ago and things may have changed since. They wanted the system boxes back for "recertification" and charged for the STC issuance for the plane. It was a significant cost that needs to be considered. I do believe it can be installed straight up in an experimental.
stevesm20b Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 I'm interested. Does it include all servos and brackets?
KSMooniac Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 I think he just upgraded his old STEC 30 to the -55x and re-used the existing servos.
Cruiser Posted July 7, 2016 Author Report Posted July 7, 2016 I would really like to see a MooneySpace pilot take advantage of this system. Make me an offer.
SoMooney Posted July 8, 2016 Report Posted July 8, 2016 (edited) I shot an email to genesys we'll see what they say. Might beat waiting two millenia to find a BI-805 to put an AP on my PC. Is this 14V or 28V? The 28t the end means its 28 right? Edited July 8, 2016 by SoMooney
Cruiser Posted July 8, 2016 Author Report Posted July 8, 2016 Right, 28V and these cannot be run on 14V as far as I know.
robert7467 Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 You can get a DC/DC 14/28 converter. I have a 14V system and running 28V radios.
orionflt Posted July 11, 2016 Report Posted July 11, 2016 I hope the policy has been changed, otherwise a perfectly good system could be wasted, or at least not installed on a Mooney. Brian
deanders Posted July 20, 2016 Report Posted July 20, 2016 I just went thru this. The STC paper work is $1500.00 and they will only sell it to an avionics shop. I had to pay the shop to verify that the system was install correctly. when you get the paper work, your serial number is assigned to it.
