According to Joe Frisolone, East Coast Aviation, who writes some very nice and specific pre-buy Mooney information ariticles, the oil cooler crack is common place for the Ovation, and probably the Eagle as well.  He does advise the oil cooler crack as one of the inspection points for the pre-buy.  I used his list during my pre-buy and it was most helpful.
