wombat Posted October 10, 2015 Author Report Posted October 10, 2015 Well, I am not sure what the USPS was doing for the last two weeks, but my spare keys finally showed up. Next stop: Key shop to have extra copies made. 1 Quote
bonal Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 Probably their normal delivery time on standard parcel rates. Seems hit and miss with the usps least they finally got there. Quote
HRM Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 (edited) FWIW my Mooney keys have never failed to unlock and start any plane I've tried, with a little shaking. The only thing the stock door locks will stop is the wind from blowing them open. I think I could turn my ignition with a butterknife. I never lock my plane, I just leave it in safe places. If someone wants to break in they will just take a knife to the skin--the damage will be far worse than anything they might pull out and steal. I believe Colton is still incarcerated, but I don't think he could get my Mooney into the air anyway. Edited October 24, 2015 by HRM Quote

Probability of a student pilot being able to get my E started, let alone off the ground: 0.00000000001 Probability of a 'joy rider' choosing only high-wings on the field: 0.99999999999 Probability of my leaving my E parked in a sleazy place with no security: 0.000000001 Fly and park safe, my friend. wombat Posted October 27, 2015 Author Report Posted October 27, 2015 When my plane is hangared in a private hangar with a lock on the hangar door I typically don't lock it, but I do remove the keys and take them with me. When the plane is outside I lock the doors. I don't think that there is significant risk of the airplane getting stolen and flown away. Quote
