flyboy0681 Posted November 13, 2015 Report Posted November 13, 2015 I contacted somebody in the industry about ICARUS and here is what he responded with: According to Icarus Avionics principle Steve Silverman, the company is very much in business. It has, however, dropped its SAM GPS Steering system because of competition from Aspen Avionics and Garmin retrofit PFD systems (which both have integrated GPSS). The SAM GPSS continues to be a serviceable product, as there over 600 in the field.
rbridges Posted November 13, 2015 Report Posted November 13, 2015 With people unloading their stec gpss with aspen installs, you can probably get a used unit. I got mine on eBay for 700. Another 700 for install IIRC. I haven't regretted it a bit. Definitely not a "gotta have" item, but it's something I use 99% of the time.
