orionflt Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 I got a great deal on several amsafe seat belts with shoulder harnesses, Everything fits great except the buckle side should be between 4 and 6 inches longer for the front seats to properly position it. obviously just sending the one side out to have it lengthened is not acceptable because it changes the approved design and re webbing the new buckle and utilizing the old part number isn't allowed either. so my next attempt is to find an AMsafe part number from a Mooney A-early J model converted with shoulder harnesses, with that I may be able to get my belts modified. any help would be appreciated. Brian
MB65E Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 I am making a nice bracket out of 4130 to support my needs of attaching the 4 bolt pattern of the PAC-SI I-reel to a single bolt to attach to the "piller" in the mooney. I'd see what you could do about adding length to the am safe belt. Most installs don't need to be approved, just log book entry. But, you might be in Canada I think. There is a Gentleman on here that works for AMSAFE and drives a Mooney. He might chime in. I'll try and find his name... Richard I believe. Re-webbing the whole belt could be an option too. I found 4 PAC-SI reels and lap belts on eBay for a killer deal, with the TSO tags on the lap belts. It will be worth every penny, even if I never use them! -Matt
orionflt Posted April 22, 2014 Author Report Posted April 22, 2014 Matt, I just used the conversion kit for the inertia reel just because I didn't feel like taking the time to fashion my own mount, the reel position and length is not the problem, it is the buckle position on the lap belt for the front seat, as for rewebbing, that is what i want to do, but i need the amsafe part number for the Mooney belts otherwise they can not be modified. each set of belts have specific sizes and hardware, you can not change any of the combination with out getting the new configuration certified. i already tried those routes, but if i can come up with the amsafe part number my hardware is good and they can modify the length based on that approved configuration. I have tried to contact amsafe a couple of times but apparently I am not important enough to correspond with. Brian
MB65E Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 I see... Let me look up the guys name at AMSAFE.
