AmigOne Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Why is it that I do not have access to the emoticons? What else do I need to turn on because under Post Options "Enable emoticons" is checked Quote
Bob_Belville Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 When I click into the reply area 2 lines of heading appear. The top line includes selection of fonts and font size. The second line has formating icos: bold, italics, strike thru, etc. The emoticons are in the middle of the top line between "text color" and "my media". Are you seeing headings? Quote
Bob_Belville Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Good idea? Save this note and cut/paste, 1 Quote
AmigOne Posted January 29, 2014 Author Report Posted January 29, 2014 I see the emoticon but shaded, like they are not available Quote
Marauder Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 I see the emoticon but shaded, like they are not available Any chance you are using a non-English keyboard? Or a keyboard setup to support international languages? Some of those don't support the characters needed for the emoticons. Quote
Bob_Belville Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Are the rest of the icons available? Fonts, etc.? If I click the very first icon it reverts to plain text mode. Quote
carusoam Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 Depends on the day and the hardware you use... iPad 1 Quote
Bob_Belville Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 I just was inserting an emoticon in another thread and noticed that when I clicked on the icon that the string of choices appear below the typing space and if you're near the bottom of the computer screen you have to scroll down to see them. Is it possible that's all it is for you? Quote
tony Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 I find for me, I have to run internet explorer in compatibility mode. Go to tools, then compatibility.. see if that helps. Quote
Hank Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Here on my iPad mini, I have neither text options nor emoticons. Annoying. Quote
Hank Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 Don't see them here on my Samsung phone, either. The "enable" box is checked, but no emoticons or text options. They're both usable via Explorer, along with fractions and symbols like for degrees. Nothing for these on either mobile platform, no italics or bolding, just CAPS and normal. Quote

AmigOne Posted January 31, 2014 Author Report Posted January 31, 2014 I operate the Apple iMac with Mozilla and standard english keyboard. No other text like font, size, bold, etc are available. Apparently I am not the only one, interesting. Quote
Hank Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Back on the iPad mini again. Quick reply, no text options or faces. Oh, look, there are. One on the keyboard, just letters, numbers and common symbols and a second page of symbols. Going to "More Reply Options," there is still no text options or emoticons. Keyboard has the same three options. Where do you see "the keyboard ones"?? And how can I make this stupid thing type in. Old or italics? I'm used to having a Ctrl key, but Apple thinks we don't need them. Quote

Apparently I am not the only one, interesting. I know some browsers like Mozilla and FireFox behave differently than IE and Safari with certain websites. Have you tried Safari on your Mac and see what happens? There may be some option that need to turn on your Mozilla. Quote
