Does anyone know of a LED bulb replacement, the brightness on mine is great but boy do they get hot. Would like a cooler option.

I bought the LED kit from these folks.  Draws less current.  Never gets hot.  Easier to point to the flap indicator and the Tach on the far right of my panel (and it does not have Nulites on it).

I second the recommendation on the led. They are really good and do not burn your fingers when you need to move them. I have the originals in the hangar somewhere...

You can't just change the bulb to LED using the existing housing, I tried it and not enough light comes out because of the geometry. Check the ad Ned Gravel posted and you'll see what I mean. The housing does get hot, the best solution is to go to bezel lights or some of the newer systems. Aircraft Spruce has quite a variety http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/el/instrumentlighting.html

These are Awesome!! Purchased in the red LED. They worked well enough to removed the old 201 style bulbs in the glare-shield lip. We were planning on the "nulights" but had problems with the spacing between the instruments and panel.

I note the ad page points out that there needs to be one incandescent in the dimming circuit... to retain the dimming function. The ceiling spot lights are on the same circuit as the eye brows on the glare shield with the internal instrument dimmer being the other ceiling rheostat, right?

I had one of the instruments (OBS) on that circuit so it was OK.   But, yes an instrument incandescent needs to be on the circuit to work.  My Nulites are on a different panel rheostat so there is no other dimmer overhead.
