  1. Yep haven't found any in stock with the major electronics places. But they can be special ordered at $35 each with a minimum order of 10. Ugh.
  2. I sent you a PM explaining the origin. I dare not mention it in public otherwise find myself embroiled in another Big Kate moment.
  3. I’m having the same issue with Tapatalk. Something changed when the new forum format went up. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  4. That bezel will be impossible to find new from Mooney. Perhaps Plane Plastics have made them. Here is another option. My 75F had the same bezel. Aircraft Spruce sells the vent. You will need to build a wedge to get it to point higher up. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  5. Exactly. Not much survives after that mass of humanity lands on you. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  6. And they still are working great. Thanks Don. (Only thing I kept when I redid the interior). [emoji1787] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  7. Mine started out as “sometimes” event as well. Unfortunately not many things in aviation fix themselves… Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  8. If you work with Mooney airplanes you will see a lot of things you never saw before. How about this bad boy? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  9. Nice summary. COVID has certainly affected the supply chain. Even a short duration manufacturing shutdown has a ripple effect. Just ask any kid wanting a PS5 for Christmas. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  10. Does anyone have a digital copy of this wiring diagram? I have a paper version and I am trying to trace where the power for the flap indicator light comes from. My wiring diagram is on 4 pages and shows 21LP55A18 is the power lead but it doesn’t match up with the actual wire code I have and it doesn’t show where this wire originated from. 12. Yep. 82nd Airborne, 325th Glider Infantry. D-Day, Market Garden, Battle of the Bulge (which he fought again later in life) and Army of Occupation in Berlin. Greatest generation… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  13. Causing trouble again huh? Good thing you cleared this up. Big Kate was going to hop on an 18 wheeler and come visit you. No issue for her since she and my long haul trucker brother are good friends. [emoji1787] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  14. You’ve come a long way from this Mike. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  16. The CEC version you are showing is the current one they introduced in 2016. It has a few more features than the original S5. I don’t have dual batteries but have the kit installed to do quick connects to the BatteryMinder. Works great. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  17. And BTW, I agree with Immelman and others who said it is regional. Being sandwiched between Philly and the SFRA, I hear it a lot. I will say it has become more interesting to listen to a controller who now say “N12345, you are about to enter a restricted airspace. Turn immediately.” Now I get to look up who the superstar is and with TIS-B what happens to them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  18. This thread sounds like it is headed to a Big Kate finale. You guys remember Big Kate, right? And her sister Big Anne? The two responsible for me needing a new tail gate shocks and leaf springs. It won’t be long before they show up and flatten this conversation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  19. Give Grigg’s a call and ask if they can help you understand where it might be coming from. http://griggsaircraft.com/fabrication/mooney_bladders Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  20. I can help you. Send me a PM with your email and I will send you what I have.
  21. Hopefully one of the IAs will give you confirmation or the right answer but I believe the ITT needs to be disassembled to grease it. I would try to do a manual extension of the gear to make sure it is moving smoothly through the full extension. If the rigging is off or binding, it can pop the breaker. Also, keep in mind there are a number of relays in this gear circuit. There could be an issue with a relay causing that huge amp draw. 80 amps is a lot for a motor to pull without going up in smoke. Speaking of the breaker... My breaker is a 20 amp breaker. I also have the ITT actuator in my 75 F. Wonder why they are different. Here is the link to the service bulleting site: https://www.mooney.com/contact-2/#technical-publications SB 189A shows a picture of the ITT installed.
  22. Mine is a bit worse. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  23. Before you yank the motor, I would make certain that it is the motor. When my breaker was popping, it turned out to the a problem with the alternator and not the gear motor. Also, if the landing gear isn't rigged correctly or has not been properly maintained (built up grease sludge), the extra work can cause the breaker to pop. As well, those Klixon breakers do go bad and in the 31 years of ownership, I have replaced a number of them, including the gear breaker. I seem to recall George's in California was doing ITT motor rebuilds. I'll see if I can find their information in my logs.
  24. Just an opinion from a pilot who has aged over his flying career. All the points about youth are true. When I was a young aviator, going up to high altitudes never had an impact on me. When I was in my early 50s a friend of mine gave me a bottle of O2 to try for night flying. It was the first time I realized that O2 can bring the lights of Broadway back into the cockpit. I became a believer for night flying. Then I started noticing I was getting headaches while flying. Thought it was related to my headset so I bought a set of Halos and realized, I still had the headache. And for the first time at my usual 8k to 9k altitudes I found flying with supplemental O2 was making a difference. I have a couple of O2 pulse oximeters in the plane and through my experimentation (not peer reviewed ), I concluded that when my pulse ox was in the 90 to 92 range, I started getting the headaches. So I am that guy you see who gets out of his plane with his cannula still attached to him.
  25. I took care of all these problems with a mod. Works great. It’s amazing how the pattern clears out now when they hear me announce on CTAF. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
