Thanks for the feedback Skates. Since you've never owned Clarity Aloft it would be unfair to ask for a comparison of the two or what makes Halo superior or it is economics? My wife wears ear buds all the time too so she will not have the same issue of "somethings in my ear" syndrome like I do.

I realize this is a pretty old string but I wanted to ask those that have the Halo headset for a little guidance. My wife hates wearing headsets and not because of the bad hair day, she just can't stand the squeeze feeling and the inability to nap comfortably. I read a lot of comments about not liking things in their ears and I am definitely one of those people, sold a pair of Clarity Aloft a year ago just for that reason. Never crossed my mind to have her try them before I sold them...duh!! If I am going to invest in another pair of in-ear headsets and if the Halo is superior to the Clarity Aloft...I would appreciate your experience between the two. I am a little concerned with some of the lack of quality comments made around the volume control box, length of the cord, etc. Thanks in advance for your input. Rick

I think that might be the cleanest hangar I've ever seen, not even a sign of McDonalds wrapper. oh, and sweet plane...sorry I don't live anywhere close to you. Welcome aboard

I've been through my share of fuel smell..first it was the tanks leaking (no longer - sealed by Weep No More) and shortly after the tank seal I smelled fuel again. I did some research on MooneySpace and read a post on the fuel tube like the pictured posted above in this thread. So I pulled up the carpet and sure enough, blue goo was abundant. I no longer have any fuel smell

It has UV protection, at least that is what the box says and getting it off was very easy...at least when I used it in my friends plane, it was. Thanks for the feedback

I will do that, take care

Yea it comes in a pretty substantial roll. I noticed you live in Live Oak, I have family in Cross City and fly into CTY fairly regularly from St Louis. Natures country in that part of the state.

And we don't shovel much snow...hahaha

Thank you sir, as I've shared...I have fallen victim to the EZ40 and other look-a-likes as well and they are just a pain to operate. Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it.

Maybe I am the last person on earth to learn about this great idea... A couple weekends ago my hangar neighbor was heading out for a quick $100 hamburger and asked if i would like to tag along. Since he has one of he most incredible RV-10's I've ever seen, I decided, "who knows, maybe he will let me fly this puppy"...and he did. Yay me ! Our flight was midday, the skies were severe clear and the sun was pounding the side of my head and arm. I tried to keep my mouth shut and not be a complainer but I failed and the next thing I know, he's digging in the pocket behind my seat. When he handed me a folded black trash bag I had no idea what the heck I was supposed to do with that, and then he explained it was static tint. Static what??? If anyone is already onto this little trick please make me feel like I have contributed and play dumb. I have a Rosen suction cup sunshield along with several other gadgets I've purchased over the years to block the sun and they either fall off, leave suction cup marks or just do not fit our curved Mooney side windows. So when i unfolded the black material, he had cut several pieces in various sizes and he said, "just lay it against the window and smooth it out with your hand". It was amazing...INSTANT shade and when we landed I simply pulled it off, folded it up and stuck back in the seat pocket. I went straight to Walmart and purchased my own roll (a whopping $12) and now have my own stash in both seat-back pockets. I've included a picture of the product if any of you are interested in a $12.00 sunshade fix. Rick

I've had a couple different tugs over the years that were traditional in design...kind of like a lawnmower looking thing with a single tire. While they easily moved the plane (81 J) they required constant manual intervention, even when pulling or pushing in a straight line. Turning the aircraft was an even bigger pain because you had to literally pick the tug up slightly and set it down in the direction you wanted to go. The whole purpose in owning a tug for me is not born out of laziness, I have a slight uphill grade into my hangar and about 12 inches of clearance on each side, so brisk pace is required to get over the hump. I have nightmares of a little trip at the wrong time and bashing my wingtip into the wall. ugh! The Sidewinder has my attention for a bunch of reasons, but before I spend $1,600 I would really like to hear your experiences with turning, uphill ability and overall maneuverability of the Sidewinder. Philip, sorry for hijacking your thread!

I didn't think about checking the downloads, duh! Thanks for the suggestion, I will go take a look.

I've found over the years that common sense isn't common, at least that's been my experience.

I hear ya on the slamming door part. We can thank Cessna and Beech for that door slamming stuff. LOL

My original briefing card finally met it's last days of usefulness, so I started looking around for a replacement. If anyone knows a source for the original cards I would very much appreciate the lead. In the meantime, I read a lot of posts about passenger briefing and what should be included without being overwhelming. I created the attached WORD document with the basics and even threw in a couple Mooney logo's just for fun. Cheers Rick Aircraft Passenger Briefing.docx

Ok that made me laugh...

Am I reading the cost correctly for the inertia set, $898 for the front and non-inertia for the back at $698, or ~$1600 to replace all belts?

Sounds logical to me

BradP, It took me a few minutes and a quick ForeFlight video and import was complete...it worked like a charm. Thanks a ton for sharing the checklist, I can't imagine how long it took you to build all categories and I do appreciate you and your willingness to share. Great job Sir !

That is crazy, I don't think I have ever seen anything melt like that inside a plane. While it didn't have a meltdown like your scout...my stratus got a little cranky one day and shut down in the middle of a flight. It was on the glare shield in the plastic holder, mounted in the rubber based that came in the box. I read the owners manual to learn you shouldn't leave it in the sun for prolonged periods of time...what???? I'm thinking to myself, do you think they realize they've designed a contraption that will sit on a black glare shield, in the sun and get hot? Maybe it should only be used for flights less than 60 minutes.
