  1. Yea it comes in a pretty substantial roll. I noticed you live in Live Oak, I have family in Cross City and fly into CTY fairly regularly from St Louis. Natures country in that part of the state.
  2. And we don't shovel much snow...hahaha
  3. Thank you sir, as I've shared...I have fallen victim to the EZ40 and other look-a-likes as well and they are just a pain to operate. Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it.
  4. Maybe I am the last person on earth to learn about this great idea... A couple weekends ago my hangar neighbor was heading out for a quick $100 hamburger and asked if i would like to tag along. Since he has one of he most incredible RV-10's I've ever seen, I decided, "who knows, maybe he will let me fly this puppy"...and he did. Yay me ! Our flight was midday, the skies were severe clear and the sun was pounding the side of my head and arm. I tried to keep my mouth shut and not be a complainer but I failed and the next thing I know, he's digging in the pocket behind my seat. When he handed me a folded black trash bag I had no idea what the heck I was supposed to do with that, and then he explained it was static tint. Static what??? If anyone is already onto this little trick please make me feel like I have contributed and play dumb. I have a Rosen suction cup sunshield along with several other gadgets I've purchased over the years to block the sun and they either fall off, leave suction cup marks or just do not fit our curved Mooney side windows. So when i unfolded the black material, he had cut several pieces in various sizes and he said, "just lay it against the window and smooth it out with your hand". It was amazing...INSTANT shade and when we landed I simply pulled it off, folded it up and stuck back in the seat pocket. I went straight to Walmart and purchased my own roll (a whopping $12) and now have my own stash in both seat-back pockets. I've included a picture of the product if any of you are interested in a $12.00 sunshade fix. Rick
  5. I've had a couple different tugs over the years that were traditional in design...kind of like a lawnmower looking thing with a single tire. While they easily moved the plane (81 J) they required constant manual intervention, even when pulling or pushing in a straight line. Turning the aircraft was an even bigger pain because you had to literally pick the tug up slightly and set it down in the direction you wanted to go. The whole purpose in owning a tug for me is not born out of laziness, I have a slight uphill grade into my hangar and about 12 inches of clearance on each side, so brisk pace is required to get over the hump. I have nightmares of a little trip at the wrong time and bashing my wingtip into the wall. ugh! The Sidewinder has my attention for a bunch of reasons, but before I spend $1,600 I would really like to hear your experiences with turning, uphill ability and overall maneuverability of the Sidewinder. Philip, sorry for hijacking your thread!
  6. I didn't think about checking the downloads, duh! Thanks for the suggestion, I will go take a look.
  7. I've found over the years that common sense isn't common, at least that's been my experience.
  8. I hear ya on the slamming door part. We can thank Cessna and Beech for that door slamming stuff. LOL
  9. My original briefing card finally met it's last days of usefulness, so I started looking around for a replacement. If anyone knows a source for the original cards I would very much appreciate the lead. In the meantime, I read a lot of posts about passenger briefing and what should be included without being overwhelming. I created the attached WORD document with the basics and even threw in a couple Mooney logo's just for fun. Cheers Rick Aircraft Passenger Briefing.docx
  10. Am I reading the cost correctly for the inertia set, $898 for the front and non-inertia for the back at $698, or ~$1600 to replace all belts?
  11. BradP, It took me a few minutes and a quick ForeFlight video and import was complete...it worked like a charm. Thanks a ton for sharing the checklist, I can't imagine how long it took you to build all categories and I do appreciate you and your willingness to share. Great job Sir !
  12. Oh, that makes sense...i will give that a shot. Thanks for taking the time to follow back up.
  13. That is crazy, I don't think I have ever seen anything melt like that inside a plane. While it didn't have a meltdown like your scout...my stratus got a little cranky one day and shut down in the middle of a flight. It was on the glare shield in the plastic holder, mounted in the rubber based that came in the box. I read the owners manual to learn you shouldn't leave it in the sun for prolonged periods of time...what???? I'm thinking to myself, do you think they realize they've designed a contraption that will sit on a black glare shield, in the sun and get hot? Maybe it should only be used for flights less than 60 minutes.
  14. Wow, you have been busy with checklists, I like it !!! And by the way, I was based at Pell City airport once upon a time many years ago when I was flying a Piper (shhhhh, don't tell anyone on mooneyspace) and lived in Trussville. I miss the approaches over that beautiful lake, what a great view!
  15. Well at least I now know that i am not the only one that straps in with keys still in pocket.
  16. I tried to open the file but none of my aps could open the .fmd extension, what kind of file is it?
  17. A very similar event happened to my Piper 235 years ago when Hurricane Charlie came through Orlando...gut wrenching.
  18. Has anyone created a checklist for the 201 and loaded into their foreflight ap?
  19. Not until I actually removed the old card from the plane did i realize the format was in a vertical layout...good grief! So I used your excel format and reconfigured/sized to fit my application. It's all good.
  20. I hear ya on the writing thing, I definitely type better.
