  2. I like the suggestion to create a spreadsheet with must haves and nice to haves. I'll be in the market a year from now. If I am religious about tracking between now and then I should be able to act quickly based on what's available when I have $$ in hand. Thanks for the suggestion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Is there a rule of thumb relative to discounting the asking price of a plane listing? 5% -10%. Of course I'm assuming the list price is in the right ballpark to start. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Congratulations. Next year for me I hope. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks for the info. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Does anyone know if Shell still offers an individual credit card for aviation fuel? Mine got closed and when I called they said they only offered business accounts now but I could apply for one. Made me wonder if that is the case why close the account that I had? And before it ask my history and credit with them we're perfect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I don't have Facebook. Let me know if there is a way to find out about meetings. Thank you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. So is a group meeting being set up? Seems enough replies have come in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I'm not a Mooney pilot yet (hope in next 12 months) but I am instrument rated and fly regularly and live in the Boston area. I'm interested Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I noticed it too. Seems to be some decent planes in the 75-100k range currently. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Can people share real life cruise speeds in the various normally aspirated J models? I have looked at the specs but wanted to know what you see in the real world. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Ice scares the ***** out of me. Just reading this is tossing my stomach. We can all learn from it. Thanks George.
  14. Sweet plane.
  15. Im flying a Piper Dakota 236 HP
  16. I am a conservative IFR pilot. Meaning I always know my personal mins and I typically have a "plan B" that can be rolled out if needed. That being said I often wonder if I am too conservative. For example, I am flying from MA to Myrtle Beach this coming weekend. Friday predicts steady rain. That is the day that I plan on leaving. Not assuming that at 8-10K feet I can get above anything. What are your concerns and limits when flying in rain? Obviously I am not talking TS.....only moisture. Appreciate your constructive perspectives.
  17. Took my first ride in a SR-22 yesterday and was very impressed. The comfort of the seats is like nothing I have experienced in GA. Got me thinking..........does anyone offer an aftermarket seat for Mooney, Piper, Cessna etc. that competes with the comfort factor?
  18. So I am confused. If I have a 430, Stratus 2 and an iPad......what else do I need?
  19. The weather was nasty up here yesterday. A lot of low level turbulence and visibility very limited. Rain was heavy prior to this flight getting into the Boston area, but still mist and a tough IMC environment. Prayers go out to all involved.
  20. I would love to find a partner in the Boston area. Never see anyone looking.
  21. I want to fly from the greater boston area to traverse city michigan. Probably a leg stretch in the greater Rochester area....but wonder what other folks do to not be out over the great lakes for too long? Suggested routing?
  22. This was at 7,000 feet....

  24. Report out of Boston that a United flight on final approach had a drone pass them with 100 feet of separation. Strikes me that the "freedom" of drones has gotten ahead of how to control the airspace. Hopefully we are not waiting for a mid-air to address this issue. Thoughts?
  25. Just so I clear, I am trying to understand when everyone says "careful about the costs of a turbo" what they mean. I'm not debating the mission etc I am only trying to understand how it hits my wallet (or not) by making the decision to go turbo.
