  1. So as a follow up to my previous post...what do people believe are average maintenance costs for a turbo? Not looking for the answer of when all sh*t breaks loose.....just what is the expected additional cost?
  2. Thanks Frank. No, most of the time it is me or me+1. Rarely even 3. I like the concept of the turbo for the reasons you mention. Just learning different perspectives here prior to making the jump. Thanks for the input.
  3. I can't get below 13.0 in my Dakota and max is 137kts. Haha
  4. Parker....what did you see for cruise fuel consumption?
  5. no obstacles, just to be fully educated on the trade offs between type of plane. I like not blowing the entire $175 and being able to invest in a few upgrades/enhancements.....
  6. I like the 252.
  7. Erik and others....can you speak to the capability and limitations of the FIKI systems?
  8. It's not a link to a specific plane.
  9. If you had $175K to spend on a Mooney and you lived in the Boston area and used the plane to travel locally as well as South Carolina, FL and greater TN area what would you buy?
  10. Yes the purchase of the 2 is why it is for sale.
  11. I was just hoping to sell it for whatever the market is for these. The $$'s aren't big enough to jump through a lot of hoops. Thanks for all the responses.
  12. Am I pricing this too high or is no one interested now that the Stratus II is out?
  13. Selling my Stratus 1 for $399 if anyone is interested. Works great/like new. Includes everything that came with it.
  14. Agreed....the alternative is not acceptable. It is always a worry, but I actually feel like the FAA Medical Examiners and my the regional office in Nashua are looking for ways to help.
  15. Thanks to everyone who gave their 2 cents after my heart attack in November. I was able to get my medical reinstated and am good to go for another year. The process was easy and well laid out. Timing was quick too (after the mandatory 6 month waiting period). Happy summer to all. Gary
  16. Obviously closer is better, but I currently do an hour and feel fortunate to have access to a plane that is cost effective, fun to fly and takes me to other parts of the county. Everyone is different so you have to balance that no matter what you do the commute is going to be "X" prior to any flying.
  17. Has anyone had to go through a medical post heart attack? Curious as to the process/timing/steps. Thanks
  18. Can you tell me if it is possible to search for a street address in foreflight and then transfer that location to the VFR chart?
  19. Looking for a friendly GA airport in the Raleigh/Chapel Hill area. Any suggestions? Thanks. Gary
  20. This is the reason I try to avoid Logan (BOS) at all costs on Angel Flights. For me taxiing (at Logan) takes the enjoyment/satisfaction out of an Angel Flight.
  21. I have never had a bad experience with NY controllers. They are busy and can speak fast, but they help when they can and they always have said thank you to me when I have helped them out. BUT, it is pretty funny when you hear them call somebody for a bonehead move.
  22. So this time I went, filed 6K and they never moved me up or down.
  23. I often fly from Boston to Ocean City MD on my way to Myrtle Beach. 100% of my flights thus far see me being brought down to 4,000 feet (regardless of whether I filed for 6k or 8k) when I go over LI and not allowed to go back to my filed altitude until past ACY. Does anyone know if there is an altitude I can file (i.e. 10,000) that will eliminate this up and down? Next trip is August 2nd and I can file for 10K but I hate the thought of the fuel I waste to go from Boston to Long Island climbing to 10 and then down and then up again.
  24. haha....no offense taken.
  25. Actually I posted it because I thought it was dangerous practice and poor judgement. However, I was also hoping I might get a response from someone that would say something like "well, in a Saratoga with equipment x and equipment y, he was in fine shape for launching in those conditions....". Sometimes I think I am a bit too conservative in my flying, but this thunderstorm was knocking out power and there were tremendous lighting strikes visible to all and big red areas all around (and above) the airport.
