  1. going on NOW.. started 25 mins ago https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/100000000064784858 BILL
  2. TRUE.. I had a Weldon installed this annual. Continuous duty too. Sounds entirely different ! Have to get use to that ! A&P said it was a bit tricky with the bracket but got it done. BILL
  3. Here is what the PO had installed.. Looks and works great. BILL
  4. my A&P tells me the airport manager got $300 for 200 gal of used oil that he collects in an old fuel oil drum. We dump in the oil, the guy comes and pumps it out and pays the manager for having a drum there ! Easy money every few months. BILL
  5. Hard for me to commit to do owner assisted so I help the A&P in other ways. I repaired his air compressor AC motor when he moved in. (free). He had some equipment that needed to be repaired (a prop support) so I brought my oxy-acet torches over , fixed the equipment and left them there since I don't use them that often. Someone else brought a MIG welder so I taught him how to use it and make is own towbar. Then I brought over a Lincoln AC welder that I don't use anymore (have a Miller TIG unit) and taught him how to use that too. I figure he cut my annual bill by 1/3 and did some extra stuff. Yesterday I went over and he said his golf cart would not start. 45 mins later I rebuilt the fuel pump and it works great again. He commented to his secretary... When Bill comes over we can fix ANYTHING !. We usually do ! BILL
  6. Ordered my plastic finally. The local shops would only deliver on 4x8 ft sheets at well over $100/sht. I got enough for 3 pair from TAP plastics in California of all places for c $50 shipped. The big sheets are a better deal if you want to spend that much. I'll be posting pictures as I get the materials. BILL
  7. I've had it take DAYS to drain cold !
  8. Yep.. cap the vent and the gas can get into the motor and you could have a fire. I'm selling a used DUKES pump that you can send away, get overhauled and then swap with very little down time. In the Classifieds for only $100. BILL
  9. If you get a tug or used lawn tractor to make it easier moving the planes in /out that will ease the transition ! We just put a ball on the front of an old MTD for the mechanic at our airport so he can hook the towbar to the front of the tractor. BILL
  10. We have 40 planes at 8A6 that are covered but open front and back. All my friends are happy and a few spent the money (c $5k) to close it in and have a canvas door made. They lose that $ when they leave. One thing nice about it is that you have your own space and are free to come and go without moving someone else s plane. The rent here for the open jobs is $160/mo. Same price if you happen to need one when a guy with a closed in one leaves ! Some guys have "sold" their closed in hangar for a few $K. ROA is big and I don't think they would allow you to close it in but it would not hurt to ask. BILL PS say hi to my son who flys Dash8s out of there for Piedmont... His name is Will.
  11. Yep, nylon bushings would require bigger U bolts (cable clamps).. Going to 1/2 in dia nylon rod for the bushings then all bolts could be 1/2 in. since you need one 1/2 in for the center support. That would be a total of 5 (maybe 6) clamps. BILL
  12. When I make mine, I'll make some CAD drawings and post ! Thanks for the detail. Bill
  13. Looks good... I see how the panels are attached to the rod but how is the rod attached to the center support ? Larger cable clamp ? Got any drawings ? Bill
  14. I have a used Dukes for sale in the classifieds so you can get it rebuilt then swap with minimal downtime. BBILL
  15. Here you go... sorry it took so long..Took the pics today and forgot the Gopro there ! BILL
  16. I'm sad I missed it but not feeling well at all yesterday I was still not 100% at 0930 (my planned departure time) and am glad I did not fly.. Used the day for rest to recover from whatever ailment I had yesterday. Will get there next time. Bill
  17. Will do on next trip to the airport. BILL
  18. Here is a nice aerial shot of the Ambassador booth from the AOPA news.
  19. I have a 34 in inseam and with the seat all the way back I cannot reach the pedals. I think someone has to have a 40 in inseam to require more legroom!. Bill
  20. My plane was done by Lancaster and the previous owner. He was happy and so am I... I would add to your MUST list the GDL-88 for ADSB. Given all the other Garmin stuff probably no hit to installation and you'll be glad you did. I'm looking to add that now to my 430 panel. BILL (my panel pics in my Gallery).
  21. I hear the key to removal is a heat gun although I have not tried it. Mine is on the ceiling over co-pilots nose. BILL
  22. We all had a good time and 6 of us went to dinner together Saturday night. Hopefully Mimi found her car when we all left ! BILL
  23. Here is what my 65 E did going to SSI yesterday; 146Kts true, 2400/24 inches 9.4 GPH at 5000 feet. 10 deg C Ground speed went to 165 Kts as we passed Columbia SC. Love my Mooney. Bill
  24. Here is the SSI team: Left to right: Mimi, Nancy, Jeff, Jerry, Bill, Bob and Richard. Ken and Lee came later. 560 planes landed , AOPA estimates 2500-3000 people. Great weather and good activity all day long. Bill Bob, doing his "thing"
  25. we waited a while and left set you tomorrow we setup ar 0730. See you tomorrow Bill
