  1. You only need to pass one so you could continue doing basicmed or light sport.
  2. I bet it's close but still not the same. The long body near empty vs a short body near full still needs more downward tailforce to counteract heavier engine. Wing has to produce more lift to overcome loss from tail. Thus a higher stall speed at equal gross weights. Just my guess.
  3. You don't need a Sport Pilot license if you are Private Pilot already. A Private Pilot can revert to Sport privileges without a medical certificate as long as it is not denied. https://sportpilottraining.sportaviationcenter.com/downgrade-transition-lsa/ https://www.aopa.org/advocacy/advocacy-briefs/frequently-asked-questions-about-sport-pilot#pilots Not to say you shouldn't get training in specific aircraft and get back into things. Just pointing out you don't have to take a test for anything.
  4. I could sure see the appeal of a 6 seat Mooney over a 2nd door.
  5. What short lived Mooney projects do you find most impressive and unimpressive? Here's a few that didn't make the list M18, M19, M10, M20T Predator, MT20 TX-1
  6. Well, all that extra weight on the same wing can only mean higher takeoff and landing speeds. Higher speeds require longer runway.
  7. I voted under 2000 cause I've done some 1950ft runways. But the plane has to be light and the approaches have to be clear. I think I could consider something like 1600ft of pavement if there's endless space on both ends for safety factor. But most of the time, there's not so you need extra runway for safety margin. Here's landing at Braden with 1950ft: Also flew into Andover Aeroflex, similar length, recently with @carusoam for some practice and credit in the 99s challenge. But realistically, anything under 3000ft needs to be deliberate and planned. Not doing something that short spur of the moment.
  8. This guy came up with a novel way to clean the spinner quickly

  10. Have you checked the POH under what circumstances they claim this speed? It’s certainly not at those economy cruise settings or altitudes you’re using.
  11. Sorry, you’re right. I meant @mooniac58
  12. Ok, this gets even dumber. I finally found the button. It's behind the ads on the bottom of the page. You have to click a tiny down arrow in the lower left corner to shrink the ad to reveal the delete button behind that. So, I started deleting a bunch of pictures... and then I found out that deleting deleted pictures also frees up my quota! Darn, already deleted a bunch of active stuff but turns out deleting already deleted stuff also frees up space. You can select all or set checkmarks on a bunch of attachments and then minimize the ad and click the delete button behind it. Fairly quick. Start by deleting all the deleted attachments before deleting any active ones.
  13. @KSMooniac recently set some pretty tight attachment space limits, but can't even find a way to delete old attachments to make space. So I figured out that if I go to the top right bar, click my username and select "My Attachments" I can go to a page that lists all of them. I can even click a box to "select all" or hit checkmarks to select a bunch. So far so good. Should be easy enough to delete a bunch quickly this way. But where's the delete button!? Can't even post a screenshot of the page because I'm out of attachment space.
  14. Trying to picture this…
  15. Doesn't do us any good if we're not selling! Just means we gotta insure for higher value and spend even more.
  16. Come on now. Let’s hear those stories. We’ve all heard about @jetdriven peeing in a film canister or about the passenger that went #2 in a paper bag! I’m sure if you fly long enough, there’s at least one little accident that occurred on your watch!
  17. I guess Mooneyspace knows about that overly exciting flight and won’t let you get away with covering it up
  18. Since this forum is out of storage and we can’t post fun airplane photos or diagrams any more, we’ll just have to make do with these stupid polls. At least until they start charging us for them too! Ever had an accidental #1, #2, or #3 in your plane? You or passenger? Pretty sure anything but #1 is always accidental. Unless maybe flying transoceanic and planning on it.
  19. That’s entirely unnecessary in this day and age. It’s simple software for the server to resize and compress all images to within spec. It might waste a little bandwidth uploading a larger than necessary photo but with 4g, 5G, and 100+ Mb connections, this is a complete non issue. I agree that videos can be posted elsewhere and embedded.
  20. So with a decade of photos/diagrams posted amounting to a mere 350mb, the choices I have are: 1) Delete 90% of all my attachments to have 50% capacity remaining, enough to post a few dozen pics at most 2) Pay to become a supporter and still have to delete a third of my stuff with no capacity left 3) Stop posting, but get to leave my old content without having to delete it (although half was already forcefully purged) What year are we living in? Is 2022 inflation really so bad that we can't post more than a few dozen photos?
  21. This may have been a thing before, but all the shops are so backed up these days, I don't think they're fishing for work.
  22. I'd post a screenshot to show you but I'm apparently 340mb used out of 19mb limit.
  23. Bizarre situation. Can’t post attachments. Looked into deleting old attachments and found this: Oh great, can’t post an attachment to show it Basically it says “used 340mb of your 19mb limit” Can’t share pictures or anything.
  24. Didn’t realize they had 180s. Had to go back and check. 1971 PIPER PA-24-260
  25. Guess that’s what happens when the cost of fuel flying a Mooney becomes almost the same as normally flying a twin.
