  1. Baby wipes - cheap, degreases nicely and no shop towels required :-) Works great !
  2. Can you post a picture? Is there a similar trick for a 231 ?
  3. You are right, mine are an aftermarket installation. So yours may be different. There is no complicated logic in the relais box - only one relais. I can also imagine that a short in the wiring can produce the same behaviour.
  4. I had the same same problem. Mine was wired incorrectly so that when pushing the retract button the power was taken of - result was the bang. We rewired the relais and they now they retract as smoothly as they deploy.
  5. I use the actual current for the capacity calculation instead of the time formula given in the Concorde manual. Therefore it should be quite accurate and it is not necessary to have a constant load.
  6. I build one myself using an Arduino microcontrollet board and lamps as the load. It automatcally switches off when reaching the 10V an stores the whole measurement on a micro SD card for later plotting in Excel Concerning deep discharge you have to consider that the 10V limit is under load. The idle voltage will be higher.
  7. The precise numbers were 43.3 on the incoming run-up. Then the turbocharger was changed (installed o/h unit). Therafter the run-up went to 43.8 ! Temperature was 19C. The aircraft has a Merlyn wastegate. Just looked up the overhaul manual which in the chapter for the wastegate adjustement clearly says "Do not exceed maximum rated power manifold pressure ..." The OM I was referring to in my initial post was the Operators Manual. This only allows 1-2" overboost.
  8. Haven't talked to him yet. The OM states that the max MP can be exceeded by 1-2" for max. 2-3min. I thought that he might have checked the max reachable MP. I still don't see any value in it as it is standing on the ground. The docs from the previous annuals show only 40 ...
  9. Hi, I just received a report from my mechanic where he pushed the MP over the 40" redline during the incoming inspection ground run. Is this a common value for that procedure? Thanks, Emmet
  10. I just had mine done at Aerospace Welding www.awi-ami.com and I am very pleased with the result. Turnaround time from Europe was approx. 2 weeks including all the shipping times.
  11. We found that the impeller has scratched metal of one side of the housing. Interestingly there is no noticable radial play but unequal gaps between the impeller and the housing. Probably a misalignment from the last overhaul ...?
  12. Hi, my mechanic told me today that my turbocharger needs an overhaul :-( Any recommendations ? Thanks
  13. Which one from McMaster (part#) did you use?
  14. I use a 795 on the yoke and love it. It doesn't really block the view to the sixpack. What I really like is that everything is just on front of you - so no bending over to reach to the panel mount. I also have the GDL39-3D which gives me some nice synthetic vision and a kind of backup AI... and it can be wired to a panel mount GPS - so you whole route is crossfilled. However I also use an iPad - I think they complement each other...
  15. ... still hoping that it will happen sometimes ...
  16. They told me that they have a design ready for mooney. There seems to be an old? agreement with mooney and they have to check in with them. I am looking forward for any results right now ...
  17. Just placed the order :-) I will also use a GSM Switchbox. Thanks everybody for your help! @Aaron : I like the Honda setup ;-)
  18. Just took a look at a picture of the engine. Looks like a very good solution to me :-) Thanks
  19. ... and how did you fix the cord? With a clamp on the oil filler tube?
  20. Hello, I am considering the installation of a Reiff system on my Mooney and looking for experiences where to put the power connector so that it can be easily accessed. Pictures would be great.. Thanks for your help! Emmet
