  1. With all due respect, you have no idea what the cause of this accident was even if you were the investigating officer. That will take time with professionals investigating this. There's many scenarios so have some respect for the families involved.
  2. Yes, that's why I'm asking about adding them to regular wing tips. In the ad they mention they're available for other Mooneys as well as Bravo's. I should have been more descriptive. I'd like to increase the light in front of the plane. Secondly it would mean fabricating a plate inside the lens that would hold both this light as well as the combination strobe/nav lights. So how much do these lights illuminate the area in front of the plane, what was needed for fabrication to install them and what paperwork was needed to have these approved.
  3. Has anyone installed these lights or are the lights shown in the attached file belong to someone here? I'd like to know what's needed to install them on a K legally. I have the original strobe/nav lights now but would like to add something like this to be able to add some night time visibility. https://flywat.com/collections/mooney-products/products/mooney-led-wingtip-recogntion-light wingtip Mooney.pdf
  4. I installed an Avidyne IFD 540 in my Bravo and really liked it. Very intuitive as well as the ability to load more information on the screen then the Garmin GTN 750. I liked that when flight planning the prospective route or procedure it was on the screen immediately enabling you to make the best decision for your route. I had the gtn 750 in my J and liked it but can say that they're definitely different but I don't think that one is better than the other.
  5. Thanks Clarence I had the same problem but lucked out with it only being a loose connector.
  6. @toomany were you able to get your problem solved? If it was your box how did you fix it?
  7. Just curious, how many hours do you think you'd take to strip and reseal both tanks on a K model? It's tough work and I don't mind working hard but I didn't want to spend a lot of time doing it. I remember a person on here (I believe he was an AF pilot who had a C model?) that designed his own striping system using PVC pipe and a pump that sprayed stripping fluid through the lower inspection covers then let it drain into tanks laid under the plane. The pump would then pick it up from the tanks and respray it.
  8. I'd phone around. I had Wingologists in Florida do mine waiting 4 months and just as I had delivered the plane to Florida, Weep No More phoned me with a cancelation. It's worth a couple phone calls. I hated spending the money but didn't want to keep trying to find holes that I missed and have to open the tank up again. They both have good reputations and guarantees.
  9. Do one tank or even a part of a tank and you'll realize it's cheaper to get one of the experts to do it. Just speaking from experience, a multitude of curse words and many scraped knuckles.
  10. Have you thought about the Avidyne IFD 540? It'll fit in the same spot as your 530 and the installation cost will be significantly lower. It has data transfer through to both their IFD 100 and ForeFlight similar to having the extra FS 210 installed. I've had both the 540 and the 750 and they each have their advantages. The 750 screen compared to the 650 and IFD 540 is an plus if your doing a lot of IFR and after awhile punching in frequencies and flight plans becomes easy during most turbulence
  11. I did my own for my J and M and others but have done auto cad and solid works for years. I had one shop quote $6.5K so I said no. I think I had 10 hours in the last designing it, $200 in the laser cutting including material, $200 in powder coating and the avionics shop charged me $250 for the aching. If I charged $100/hour for the design the total price would be $2000.00 I'd suggest that If you're not that way inclined you can also look for panel shops that will do these or just have the shop that would charge no more the $2K for it.
  12. Just a thought, the turbo is cooled by both the decrease in TIT, the air flowing around the turbo (not much) as well as oil supplied, so if your TIT cools down to as low as 850-900F look at your oil temp and see if it's cooled and stabilized. I don't think your turbo and the oil supplied is going to get any cooler than that. I have checked before but never timed it so I'll check this week and get back on how much time and the TIT, oil temperatures including the ambient temperature.
  13. Make sure you have ground power plugged in if you're not downloading while the engine is running. There's a chance that the IFD will power down and you'll need to get the computer re-flashed. I believe it has to be above an 8 amp supply and it's in the manual.
  14. I went in to see Cody after he was recommended from Paul Maxwell (Don Maxwell Mooney) and he's everything people say about him. He took the time to show me the inside of a prop that's the same as mine as well as looking at mine to make sure everything checked out. Like you he let me park inside his shop, which is one of the nicest hangars I've seen. It would be hard to not compare it to an operating room.
  15. 1/ Don I'm pretty sure it's a differential sensor. I've installed it in the same position as the original (Shading I believe) and it will only show 4-5 psi 2/ EI (Oregon) Sorry don't know your name. These are good questions and JPI has not been helpful. They've just said this is what we supply and figure it out yourself. BTW, I have tried switching wiring without any luck. I've attached some pics so hopefully the will help.
  16. Has anyone installed the FP sensor on a Bravo? I have a question about the two fuel lines and setup. The analyzer works as advertised and I'm happy with it however JPI hasn't been any help with getting their fuel pressure sensor to read the proper pressure. Thanks Steve
  17. Price lowered $350.00
  18. Yes I know it'll work with the GTN 750 and 650.
  19. Replaced this unit with a Garmin GTX 345. Worked great when removed. Includes rubber glare shield base, antennas and 4 ft power extension $350, Includes shipping to US and Canada
  20. Garmin FS 210 for flight plan transfer between 530W, 430W and iPads. Includes 15 pin connector $895.00 Includes shipping in Canada or US
  21. Must have the need for speed gene, Acclaims are faster then Indy Cars,, by a little,
  22. Had 2 sets in my J. I leaned the back of the back seat forward then laid the club bags without the woods down over the seat. Then tied the woods together with a bungee cord and laid the woods over them with the heads stuck into the hat rack area. For My Bravo I've had 2 sets laid down over the lowered back seat with the woods and driver still in the bag. Had to do a little golf bag yoga but its doable and I think four clubs will fit but you'll only be able to take three people.
  23. I just flew three short flights today and all were at ~65% and 15 GPH. At 5500 ft msl I was trueing at 162 KTAS. if you approximate for 2knts / 1000 ft that would equal to 182 KTAS at 15K and at 15 GPH. TIT was at 1575deg.
  24. People mention about the economy of the J, S or R models but once you go turbo it's hard to move backward.
  25. Something that I've found flying my Bravo is the smoothness of the ride through turbulence and its much better then the "J" I used to own or the K's that I've flown in. The bravo or long bodies have a higher wing loading then the smaller models so they don't get pushed around as much. As for useful load mine has approximately 960 lbs and I have TKS. As for fuel efficiency I try to fly above 15K and at that altitude or higher and 65% power I can attain 180 kt TAS on 15.5 GPH. I did spend some time re-rigging the plane to fly level and without much rudder input.
