  1. Oh, it's not that bad! Bill (Mr. Dunn), although I'm not interested in the 770, I am now highly interested in the Flightstream 210 given I have a 530 and am relatively happy with the setup. Most of my legs are 2 hours or less and given only a couple fixes in my clearance the 530 still works just fine. I just really like the idea of the connectivity between iPad and 530. What are the install costs of the Flightstream 210? Do you know yet? Anxious to hear back. I am upset that I would have to give up my beloved Foreflight and Stratus 2 but I just don't see Foreflight ever having the connectivity between the iPad and the 530? Thoughts? Good thing my partner has the new GDL39 and our traffic system works great with Garmin Pilot also with aural traffic alerts.
  2. As much as I like Forelfight I am worried that Flightstream with it's ability to transfer flight plans right to the GNS series navigators is going to be a real draw for a lot of us. It sure is for me. I thought about buying Voiceflight for a while (glad I didn't now as they're out of business) just so I wouldn't have to add all those waypoints on airways manually. Well now with Flightstream that is now possible but you've obviously got to be running Garmin Pilot as well. Damn!! Now what the heck do I do?????
  3. I wholeheartedly agree they should have VSR. If you are a ForeFlight subscriber, please email and suggest the idea. They are extremely good at listening to their subscribers. team@foreflight.com
  4. Forgive me if this has been posted already but since it is centered around a Mooney I thought you all may enjoy it. Educational too. What could be better? http://www.pilotworkshop.com/video/failure
  5. Gary what part of Florida are you in? My friend is near Daytona.
  6. Haha. Ive never left. And I'm just waiting for the new Mooney to add a chute then I'm gonna find 15 guys to go in on it with me. ;-)
  7. Hi folks, Does anybody know anything about either of these two aircraft? Or if you know of a nice J that is for sale and you have personal knowledge of please let me know. Thank you, Brett There is a 1987 N1234G in Colorado and a 1988 N5280J in Woodbine, NJ
  8. That is an impressive looking aircraft. Appears it has a chute also?
  9. Right on! And because of that folks plunk down the cost of admission.
  10. Didn't Sporty's come out with a cloud topper app for use with the iPad/iPhone? I can remember seeing those sight levels in Sporty's catalogs for as long as I can remember. "will I be in that cloud" was the tag line.
  11. One of my favorites too Jose. Good stuff.
  12. Slowflyin: That's what I can utilizing your Mooney. What's up with that name though? Your Mooney can't possibly be slow as 201er's.
  13. Congratulations Peter. Pay no attention to Chris. Our rewards come later!!
  14. Nope! Been to Sun n Fun but never OSH. I really really want to go and ever since I've had my own plane something has always gotten in the way. I'd really like to take CJ and just camp beside the plane. Someday!
  15. Last weekend we flew to PHL to watch a Phillies game. Yesterday we flew down to Charleston to tour some plantations then flew up to Myrtle Beach this morning to start our summer vacation until August 9th. I keep finding myself trying to come up with some other side trip to do while we're here so I can fly again. This aviation bug is pricey but damn its fun! I cant seem to spend enough time behind the yoke. I get home from flying the work airplane and still gravitate to the airport to spend time with my own airplane. Thanks Wilbur and Orville.
  16. Great video Mike! Glad you finally got to make it out there. Thats one box I want to check at some point also.
  17. Hey.........everybody was awake today on the way to Charleston, SC. Well, for half the flight. Then heads started nodding over.
  18. Yes Anthony 8.33 spacing is supported.
  19. For the folks that got in early on the IFD540 and currently have a GNS530 it is a super deal. True it doesn't add much utility and in reality the WAAS GPS added very utility for me. I flew for years in my Mooney with NO GPS and it never stopped me from doing a trip. However, given the less than 10 minute install time from going from the 530 to the 540, and the 9K price tag........well it's a smoking deal and very very smart on Avidynes part. Kudos to them for getting it certified. It is certainly a lot more user friendly than the GNS units and more like an FMS than just an IFR GPS. It is a very capable machine that will do whatever you ask it to and do it quickly.
  20. I don't know that it's any more stable or less yawing moment.............but my wife prefers the low wing airplanes..........says it's more of a sensation of flying rather than being suspended (actually dangling was the word she used.)
  21. Awwwwwww! I love the ear protection the pup has.
  22. My kids have zero interest in learning anything at this point. Glad to hear there may be hope later down the road. What's he taking the lessons in John?
  23. Well Tom that was just mean. ;-)
  24. Nope.......My favorite gets to wear the Lightspeed. Me.. Both the kids wear the Bose and my wife is stuck with the old Lightspeed. But she is the one always sleeping so it works out well that way. I wear the new Lightspeed so I can bluetooth my music to me. The kids use the intercom system to play their music.
