  1. Quote: jetdriven See? I read that airplanes with over 12 years on an engine or damage history are worthless. Scott, Jim, your airplanes are worthless! Along with mine! But Scott and I just bought ours, so if they were worthless, and someone just bought them. Well. Umm.
  2. Could you post a link to the Cleveland accident?
  3. Quote: johnggreen No, I won't look it up for you, I'm nobody's librarian. Look it up yourself, it won't be hard to find. This blog can be informative. It can be helpful. it can promote safety. Mostly it just promotes the silliness of brand loyalty.
  4. Just WOW! Looks like the nose wheel over-center lock got bounced from over-center and the nose wheel pulled them all up.
  5. http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_Results.aspx?NNumbertxt=2600W&x=18&y=13 This shows the serial # 3285
  6. Well, the Kurt Snyder option is no longer necessary, Kurt bought an M20B model and from what I know is very pleased with it!
  7. http://www.donmaxwell.com/publications/MAPA_TEXT/M20-202%20-%20Eight-Second%20Ride/EIGHT_SECOND_RIDE.HTM This might be helpful.
  8. Hi, Have any of you ever been tempted or otherwise pursued the "owner produced part". It seems silly that good aircraft are grounded and much time is wasted chasing non responsive suppliers, salvage yards, or distributors only to find that the part is not available ,or worse, available but the price is beyond any reasonable expectation of a fair market price. My airplane is 50 years old and needs nothing by the way ,in the way of parts. What is your experience in this area of aircraft ownership? until we meet again Sleepingsquirrel
  9. Yes, they wouldn't even let me in the airport to pose next to an airplane! All I could get is this damn squirrel for an avatar.
  10. http://mobilehomepartsstore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=403311 Hi Scott, This stuff is everywhere local, You just have to find the geometry that works for you. It is cheap but wonderful, I know you only want to do this once. I did the passenger window with this and it lives up to its marketing. It's so cheap, just buy some and play with it. It will make you smile at its ease of application.
  11. Quote: scottfromiowa http://www.skygeek.com/flamemaster-cs-3330-cl-low-adhesion-sealant.html Looking for help regarding which item as shown (quantity) and container. I would like to apply with a "gun" to apply. What gun do I get? Thanks much for help!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I used a grey butyl tape product for plexiglass on boats. The half inch tape was easy to apply and formed a complete seal with little effort for clean up. The gun product was a Dow product (Dow 795). I can get more information tomorrow. The grey butyl tape came form Catalina Direct, a friend gave it to me after he finished his port lights. This product is also available in most Lowes or Home Depot for a lot less money. I used the tape because it was infinitely cleaner and easier than the gun product. A blind monkey could replace plexiglass with this product!
  13. Here's hoping that they didn't chew holes in your wooden spar.
  14. Quote: Shadrach Squirell, where can I order a gecko and are they small enough to fit on the glare shield?
  15. This gecko is able to support up to 9 pounds, works in a vacuum. Works for food!
  16. I think that air pressure is what holds the thing to a surface, 90% . 10 % is the gecko lizard adhesion effect.
  17. I think that a great company with a great design is always going to compete with itself and its older products. I'm flying a 50 year old Mooney and think that you will find you have made a great choice! Great wings and tail feathers, solid time tested engine , it will have value when you decide to move up.
  18. I found this in the Mooney service notes concerning the gear warning; http://www.mooney.com/images/pdfs/sb-pdf/sbm20-95.pdf
  19. You might sweep the area in front of the airplane to see what you can keep from becoming airborne and sucked into the intake. A simple experiment would be to clean the filter or put a new one on. I doubt you would find anything of any consequence for two or three hours of running if you closely inspected the filter by weighing it before running then after. These filters are really just keeping the June bugs out, just look behind the filter at the debris that makes it through.
  20. I'm speechless, which is all the government wants anyway!
  21. Brownian motion ! or as they claim in Quantum physics particles can disappear and reappear anywhere. (Quantum tunneling)
  22. So the turbo guys do exactly the same as me, except they fiddle with the knobs until the cylinders are cool enough.
  23. This is what it looks like when I fly! Kind of a mystery as to how it's done!
  24. Quote: orangemtl It's been a few decades since Physics I and Physics II, but: I think there's a bit of an offset here, that flattens the decreasing net efficiency curve. Someone educate/correct me on this one, please.
