  1. This is an extra filter that is installed between the regulator and pump as a extra point of protection between the pump and instruments.
  2. I've never heard of this before, but just googled it and it seems to be happening a lot.
  3. Here is a picture I snapped of my inline suction filter. It's been installed for about 40 hrs now and you can see the little bits of stuff it stopped that would otherwise have went through the Vac pump. It looks like it is doing its job. All my hoses and filters are new, so I'm not sure if this is stuff that was already in the Gyro's or where it came from. I did have a DG fail last month with bad bearings, so some of it could have came from there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  4. 8 Superior SL67193 Lycoming angle valve rocker cover gaskets. 4 of these came with my overhaul gasket set and the other 4 came with the cylinders. $10 for all and I'll pay the shipping. They were purchased new last year. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  5. No, but there has been a few days lately I would have like to have had it. They also make a vest you can wear. I've been looking at the AC coolers. If you use frozen plastic bottles and a small amount of water I don't think it would slosh over.
  6. Here is a icewater cooled seat cover. http://www.batteryheatedclothing.com/heated-clothing/circulating-cooling-clothing/ice-circulating-cooling-single-car-seat-cover/
  7. A good start would be to read the NTSB report on the plane that he put his son in that killed him shortly after takeoff.
  8. I have rod ends on mine also.
  9. Hangered, Unhangered, Coastal, Inland, corrosion X'd regularly?
  10. Your also risking ruining a camshaft running the engine with a valve that is sticking.
  11. A small 3 amp fuse across the relay contacts should do the trick. You would probably have to disconnect one side of the coil also.
  12. I think Jimmy's prices for an F are high. I don't think many if any sell for the value his data says they are worth. His data will easily price an F in the high 60's to middle 70's,
  13. Upgrade to the silicon rocker cover gaskets and you will not have to worry about them again. They are reusable, don't leak and problem free.
  14. With the oil filter off, its easy to get to the oil hoses. The fuel pump ones are tight, but not that bad. The oil and fuel line behind my panel were still the original ones from '67 when I replaced them last year. I don't understand why the previous owner had left them in that long.
  15. The E/F and J are considerably different. The E/F cost a lot more..
  16. Some of these airshow accidents happened over 100 years ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airshow_accidents_and_incidents
  17. The ACK E-04 406 mhz unit I installed specified a maximum amount of deflection when a given load is placed on the mounting member. RTCA document DO-204 paragraph 3.1.8. prescribes the mounting requirements which must be met when installing this ELT, these requirements are as follows: The ELT shall be mounted to primary load-carrying structures such as trusses, bulkheads, longerons, spars, or floor beams. (not aircraft skin.) The mounts shall have a maximum static local deflection no greater than 2.5mm (0.1 inch) when a force of 450 newtons (100 lbs) is applied to the mount in the most flexible direction. Deflection measurements shall 2 be made with reference to another part of the airframe not less than 0.3 meter (1 foot) nor more than 1.0 meter (3 feet) from the mounting location. After selecting a suitable location meeting all of the above requirements. Drill and mount the ELT tray assembly as shown in Fig 3. A doubler plate may be required. Secure latches with tie wrap as shown.
  18. Yes, by "uncorrected transponder" I mean what blind encoder is sending to the transponder. The Baro correction takes place on the ATC side of things.
  19. I'm not sure about the ADS-B, but the Monroy system picks up the other planes transponder altitude, which is uncorrected and the picks up your own transponder signal which is also uncorrected and compares the two.
  20. I was quoted $8600 local for 1 base color and 2 trim colors.
  21. The Alcor gauges start at 1200 and each large tick is another 100 deg
  22. Hi. I'm not looking for any parts right now, but I'm based at 14J just west of Ft Rucker. There are a couple of other members in this area also. Where is your plane based? Mike
  23. Its all one piece, the mounting plate, arm, float, and variable resistor. I have saw some different versions from Mooney. Some have the sender mounted right up next the mounting plate and others have it mounted 6 inches or so out from the mounting plate.
  24. On my F that hose is the same size as the other hose that hooks to the heater box. It isn't hooked to anything, it just vents air through the heat muff on the muffler to keep it cool when the cabin heat is not on. Mine is mounted to a stud on the footwell.
  25. The IA's name at roosterville was Paul. His son also works with him as an A&P. They have owned their Mooney for several years and would have the hrs. They might be willing to help with the Ferry also.
