  4. Looking at the table of data you posted above, it does not appear that your oil temp was getting anywhere near hot enough on the cold days. Mine normally runs 190-200 and at that temp your prop speed is where it should be. You may need to look at why your oil didn't get hot enough in the cold weather. Didn't you have a previous post a few months ago about oil temps in cold weather?
  5. I don't think there is a sudden risk of failure as long as you monitor it and don't let the engine grossly overspeed. There is a Lycoming service bulletin that describes a leakdown test using air that will help determine if the leak rate past the front bearing is too high. The governor can be removed and bench checked by a shop. A slight seasonal adjustment may be the best answer as well as monitoring it and making sure it doesn't get progressively worse..
  6. Your governor or front bearing may be getting some wear on it. With the thinner hot oil, the oil pump in the governor may not be making quite as much pressure, or you may be loosing a little more oil pressure around the front transfer bearing than when the oil is cooler and thicker.

  8. I circled what looks like a Tinnerman nut to me. I'm guessing it was mounted with sheet metal screws?
  9. It also looks like it was possibly mounted with tinnerman nuts instead of AN nuts and bolts.
  10. Glad it didn't push all the oil out. If your hoses are starting to get old, and need new ones it would be a good time to do the Lasar relocation kit and move the cooler to behind the #4 cylinder.
  11. 2 years ago the show rebate was $500. The rebate that they offered after the show was $400 that lasted until the end of the year. The 830 also gives you OAT, oil temp and oil pressure as a standard features while it is an option on the 730.
  12. Yes, I've saw multiple articles that says she was covered by foam. Sad, but if true, not much the driver could have done.
  13. I still had some of the original hoses from 67 behind my panel last year until I replaced them. Hard as a rock.
  14. I originally thought the intern was from the TV station also, but read something last night that said it was a NTSB intern.
  15. 2 years ago if I remembered correctly it had to be purchased at the show. There was also another advantage to doing that. The onsite vendors were also offering additional discounts on top of the JPI rebate. I negotiated with both Gulf Coast and Sarasota Avionics and purchsed the 830 for $2600 after rebate and discount. Both were a few hundred cheaper than Spruce. If you plan to add RPM and MP later, it may be cheaper to just buy the 830 to start with.

  17. Is the Is the new ILS up and working now? I live in Troy, but hardly ever use the airport there. I keep my plane down in Elba. I work in Tallassee, between Auburn and Montgomery.

  21. It seems to me that changing one TSO'd light for another TSO'd light would fall under AC20-41A. Substituting TSO'd parts for a similiar TSO'd part. AC20-41A.pdf
  22. The shower of sparks is not working, or the left mag is completely dead. The left mag has 2 sets of contacts in it, one for starting and one for running. The starting set is retarded to 0 deg while the running set is at 25deg. Durring starting the right mag is grounded out. Maxwell has a good article on his website that describes it.
  23. I went 2 years ago on Delta. I put the all camping stuff and other things I needed in a large suitcase. It contained everything I needed for 3 days. Purchased food, drinks and ice when I arrived.

  25. The Brittain Altitude hold is STC'd for the M20 through M20J with the G model not included. The STC is independent of what other autopilot systems are installed. The parts are difficult to find, but if you find them the total cost is a fraction of the cost of the S-Tec. It doesn't have altitude preselect, but does a good job of holding altitude once turned on.
