Help me fill out this EDM-900 configuration page
N601RX replied to FloridaMan's topic in General Mooney Talk
The tach and hobbs time is settable on the 900 by just using the buttons with the built in config editor. The procedure is not published in the manual, so they may not want it made public. I'll send you a pm with it attached. Glad to see they are including the fuel pressure sensor now. What you stated above is what all the dealers were telling customers last year, but then JPI was saying it was extra once they were ready to ship the unit. -
Thanks for the replies, I'll pass the RBD suggestion along to him. The problem is this is a C150 that is worth around 18K. Spending 6K year on hanger doesn't make a lot of sense in his situation.

I have a friend who recently moved to Dallas and is looking for a hanger or tiedown. What is the going rate for hanger or tiedown? He has been a couple of hangers down from me paying $65 month and is going through shock at the $500 he has been asked.
-
For maximum flexibility it would be nice if the baggage floor was floored with a couple of strips of this aluminum T slot plate. The tiedown points could then quickly positioned wherever needed.

STC for Brake Caliper Reversal on M20E
N601RX replied to N9240M's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I swapped mine about 3 years ago. The paperwork cost less than $50 then. Its just a matter of drilling some new mounting holes in the caliper bracket. It moves the caliper from the rear of the wheel to the front of the wheel. It doesn't change the breaking power, but does make then easy to look at on preflight. -
Will cleaning the dirt and other gunk out of the holes help? The rails are riveted in with a row of rivets down each side of the rail.

Fresh air NACA intake on copilots side of 64' M20E
N601RX replied to bus driver's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
The 67 F has a small about 1" valve that cuts the air off to the radio stack. It is connected directly to the side scoop. I disconnected it and added a fan. My heater mixer is on the firewall. -
Foreflight just announced synthetic vision!

I flew with it for a while yesterday afternoon. The center of the runway was dead on. It would show being off center if your were only off a foot or two. -
Unless it is worn out just clean it.

Chinese Factory already in production?
N601RX replied to Bob_Belville's topic in General Mooney Talk
I'm not sure the plane was really built in China. The press releases being released over there do not agree with ones released over here. Perhaps they flew it over and then put some Chinese numbers on it and other markings on it (final assembly). -
I don't think it will be $1500. Call one of the Narco only shops who have been doing these for the last 30 years and they will almost know from the symptoms what parts are bad. I'm thinking more in the $400 range with the real culprit being a $.50 capacitor. The trick is using someone who knows these to the point they really don't even need a schematic.

They both used to advertise in trade a plane. The guy in fl is Roy Dawson.

Help me fill out this EDM-900 configuration page
N601RX replied to FloridaMan's topic in General Mooney Talk
As long as the senders are still providing a resistance reading and don't have any "Dead" spots the calibration process will compensate for most of the inaccuracies. It is a 5 point calibration and you get to pick the 5 points. For example you put 5 gallons in and them tell it there is 5 gallons in the tank. Then repeat for the other 4 points. It will create a lookup table and interpolate between the points. -
The Narco will be easier to fix now that has completely died. There is also a place in Florida and Tx that still repairs them. I believe that is all they do.

You will like it. Make sure they hook it up to your gps when it is installed. Then the saved data files will include position, speed and altitude for each data point. This makes it easier to compare data between flight. It will also output into KML files for google earth. You may want to check prices at gulf coast and sarasota. Last year they were cheaper than spruce. The manager at Sarasota also stood behind him telling me that the fuel pressure was included and either convinced JPI to include it or included it himself. -
What does Copyright XXXX All Rights Reserved Mean?

Mark, Is this true for all material or just material published after a certain date? I was under the impression anything published before some date back in the 80's fell into the public domain if not copyrighted?- 15 replies

5. bladders? 7. If slicks 4300 series 9. No selector switch, 2 tanks, no senders included reuse old ones. There is a cal routine to go through. 12. Resistive 15. I would want 4 of the same kind. 17. I asked for clarification on this also and was given incorrect info by vendor, but they made it right. Fuel pressure is required because it listed as an operation limitation. Last spring they tried to make me pay extra for the FP sensor, but because I had an email from them stating it was included they finally gave to me after I told them to just cancel the order. This happened to a few others on here also so hopefully they are just including it now. 22. With the new firmware and instructions these are now field changeable. -

The electronic copies I have are appear to be scanned from paper manuals and don't have any copyright statements on them. They are the current version of the manuals. The copyright statements may have been added later when Mooney started supplying them digitally. If these were originally published in the 70's and 80's without any copyright claim then they likely fall into the public domain now.- 15 replies

Piper's lawyers have actually threatened websites with legal action over this exact issue. There are also often 3rd parties involved such as with lycoming where they have granted a 3rd party exclusive rights to be the sole distributor of their service info. I don't see any copyright statements on any of the Mooney manuals I have.- 15 replies

Is the injector oriented correctly? The marking should be down and the hole up. -
Stranded need fuel pump 66E Corpus Christi
N601RX replied to Matt Michael's topic in General Mooney Talk
Dr Bill just sold one. Not sure where it went, one of the persons asking a question about is located in Tx. I think Scott (KCMooniac) has an extra one also, you might send him a PM. http://mooneyspace.com/topic/13021-weldon-electric-fuel-pump-8163a/ -
Stranded need fuel pump 66E Corpus Christi
N601RX replied to Matt Michael's topic in General Mooney Talk
The blue AN fitting is the fuel pump. It is there so when the seal between the pump and motor starts leaking the fuel runs out the fitting instead of filling up the motor side of the pump with fuel. Hopefully someone will be open Friday and can overnight it to you with Saturday delivery. -
What do you want with the upcoming Part 23 rewrite
N601RX replied to aviatoreb's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
Much like the pilot protection act that has been stuck in subcommittee for the last year even thought it has 163 bipartisan co sponsors. When the new congress is seated in a few days the whole process will have to start all over again. -
Foreflight just announced synthetic vision!
N601RX replied to N601RX's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I've read that Foreflight originally only wanted to be involved more on the flight planning side of things, but the customer demand was for in flight use and wanted the features to support that. -
Plane power doesn't have a PMA replacement regulator for this application, but they do have a complete STCd replacement kit that includes the regulator, alternator and new drive gear. All for a little under $1k .
