  1. Garmin MX20 I/O traffic / Radar / charts In near new condition , Has the new style face with the pushbuttons for the brightness instead of the rotary knob.... Has Chartview and traffic , as well as the radar board......1650 includes shipping , I will guarantee for 30 days if shipped directly to an avionics shop....Call Alan 856 419 5209 , 856 428 8151....
  2. Yes they are
  3. Yea , I would be afraid of the Cirrus.... Even with a chute its a Killer .....
  4. The top prop is closer to 11k and you cant get it right away , Find a scout that had a MT conversion , Call MT prop , Im sure they have the correct prop... And yes yes tony you sre correct about the inspection ... If the crank dials out the engine is OK .. The people at lycoming are not stupid , And as for any of the (experts) I will take Lycomings opinion over thiers.....
  5. I hate to be a party pooper , But I just switched from a Mooney to a Bo S35 , Bigger ,20 Knots faster, almost 500 lbs more payload , and a much heavier stable platform , The things I will certainly miss about the Mooney are 1) Fuel burn I went from 11gph to 15 gph , The glide , Nothing glides like a mooney I generally started descents from 6000 feet about 40 miles out , This will not be the case w/the Bo... and the almost perfect almost not able to feel touchdowns... ... The main reason I switched was the payload The Bo is a true 4 place , the moon was really a three person airplane...I would equate the spar issue to the cage rust issue , if the airframe is taken care of it is a non issue.... The gear is similar on both planes , But the early Mooneys B)C)E)F) are true performers for thier small engines ..... I originally wanted a 231 , but the Beech was such a great deal I couldnt say no... I will miss the Mooney....
  6. LMAO!!!!!
  7. Is my egt wrong , I peak out at 1400 to 1425 , and run 50 degrees rich of peak , 1200 seems awful low , to be any thing but full rich... I know the engine runs well and compressions are all 76 or better ,
  8. I have a set of inner gear doors for sale , These are the lasar fiberglass doors , No Hardware or paperwork but they use standard hardware to install , sold my plane and never got a chance to install 251.99 + freight , also have a one piece windshield for older models not a 2O1 style 1OO + Freight PM me if interested....
  9. Moved into Brand "B"... Have a deposit waiting for the check...
  10. You can get away with a prop strike inspection if the crank dials out , which is just pulling the accesory case and dye checking the crank gear , replacing the bolt and lock plate .... About 100 dollars in parts , and it can be done in the mount , the engine does not have to come out , This is ironed out in the Lycoming non recurring ad on prop strikes... The one piece belly is a waste of money IMHO You can pull the lower skins in 25 minutes , and the belly does not increase your speed , but the three blade prop will cost a few precious knots...4200 is a great price for the prop if it has the newer hub... Good luck...Also I dont think Chartiss will sell it back for 10 K, I would get it in writing before you start buying parts...
  11. The scout aircraft have the correct prop , but the blades are 7666 and the mooney blades are 7666-2 , You have to send them to a prop shop and have the diameter reduced by 1 inch each blade , this costs about 500 at the prop shop , A popular mod for the scout is a mt prop conversion..... Check the scout clubs and message boards and you will find a prop .... Good luck.....
  12. Selling my B here is the ebay link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110726535452&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT
  13. I had a friend with a piper that bought the pf , and he was disapointed .... Looking at my stock B exhaust , there is little or no backpressure on the system to begin with , so I dont see how you can improve the flow ...One of the best features of the Mooney is the economy of the fuel burn vs speed , It seems that this only has a minor benefit at wide open throttle , I dont run my engine that hard , The only time I am wide open is at 8000 feet or higher .... Put your money in Aerodynamic mods or the panel... Good luck
  14. I have a 61 B model , and am considering moving into a bonanza , Is It more economical for me to part out my B than to spend two years trying to sell it and maybe getting 30K , I have a 430 , MX20 , Sl70 and Sandel 3308 etc that I can move into the beech , That probably will save me 10K , The engine is a 300 hour Matituck that I believe is worth at least 12 to 13 K , O&N bladders that are 3 years old , maybe 4k , Hartzell no AD prop 300 since new Maybe 5K , SWTA 201 panel mod maybe 3K and maybe 3 or 4 K for whats left of the airframe , Do these numbers seem realistic , any input would be greatly appreciated , I will know about the beech in a week or two... Again any input would be greatly appreciated....
  15. I have put in skytechs with old planes that had bad cables , and they still started unbelievably... I think you have a bad battery..... How old is the battery???
  16. I have the one piece , and it works fine , and is not to hard to install... I was thinking of upgrading to a j model , but it seems that parts are not going to be available too much longer.... Has anyone considered calling Lopresti??? I believe they made the original parts when they designed the J model upgrades...
  17. Randy I also have a shop , working on cars , and a common problem with repairs is that people overthink EVERYTHING.....K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid...... You do have to throw him a bone though.... He did admit it was his fault , and he did not charge for the wasted time... Every once in a while though I too make the mistake of overthinking the problem... Its a shame they dont have Alldata for planes...
  18. There is a service bulletin from mooney allowing you to put a hartzell on the B ( originally had a mac c14) I bought a late hartzell (no hub ad ) from a scout owner that did the MT upgrade paid 5 k and sent out to get the tips cut ......net cost was 5500...
  19. As far as the yak goes , There is a mod called a fod barrier, specifically designed to prevent items from getting into the tail, Very unfortunate they died as this was preventible... My buddy runs a station for Delta, and sometimes they have to actually climb into the wings (tanks) for maintence ... and if they have to work on thier backs thay will take a small mattress in to lay on....He showed me pics of the techs removing a diesel (jet a) soaked mattress from a DC10 tank... I forget what the problem was that alerted them to it... As far as my mooney , I had about 12 baby starlings in my tail , took hours to get everything out last annual... It was hilarious watching my IA throwing them out of the plane and watching them jump and hop around the shop.... At last annual we put a barrier in the tail so they couldnt make it past the Empenage.. This worked well and this year they were contained to the emp...
  20. Make sure the tanks are full when you pre purchase all the way .... After it sits for an hour or two follow your nose.... If you smell ANY fuel the tanks leak...
  21. Old gear ups are common , The idler gear failure may have been fixed without tear down , if the damage was localized it may have had an accesory case and gears , the engine shut down when the gear failed...(no mags turning) ... But you can get a lot of mooney for the money now .. good luck
  22. Run the n# through the faa web sight , and call the owner direct , I am sure he can arrange a look at the logs...The gear up might show up on the ntsb accident database..
