  1. I just want to know how someone can possibly think that's going to be productive.
  2. I need to do the same for mine in the next year or two.
  3. Wow. Some really uninformed comments on this thread. I have personal minimums while on O2 in an non-pressurized aircraft. That would happen to be somewhere in the range of FL210, unless pop-up wx called for higher. but I don't fault anyone who wants to try for higher. I think FL210 is perfectly reasonable.
  4. Nothing wrong with a low level cruise. Just consult section charts for your minimum altitudes to clear obstructions and plan carefully. I did a lot of WOT cruising at 1000 AGL and lower in my M20J. Typically 2400-2500 RPM and 9.5 - 10 GPH
  5. Quote: KSMooniac Another poster on here from the Houston area flew up to McKinney (TKI) for extensive avionics work and he seemed happy. Can't remember who it was, but it was an Eagle or Ovation.
  6. I agree with you on your list. When I was in DC, I was fortunate to get to go on the White House lawn and watch Dubya take off in Marine One. I also went to Gettysburg, which was cool.
  7. Quote: KSMooniac No more flying for me until mid-January after a ski trip and then it will be IPC and BFR time.
  8. Quote: mooneygirl We are headed to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. We have two extra tickets. Weather is supposed to be nearly 80 degrees. If you are thinking about going and need great seats, send me a PM.
  9. actually I should say I'm going into ABQ then driving to Santa Fe. Time to go skiing.
  10. 55.6 hours including dual given. mizerble.
  11. I'm going to Santa Fe via American Airlines miles on January 27ish.
  12. My year was pretty bad at 55.6 hours. My seaplane hours are a substantial fraction of my total time this year. Expecting 140-200 hours of personal and business flying next year and probably 100 dual given.
  13. Don Maxwell in Longview, TX. *In general* your best bet is to buy a Texas Mooney and handle everything in the Lone Star State. The best support is there. Where do you live?

  15. Quote: JimR Must have been a "new" 172. I was never able to get more than 110 out of the old 172 rental beaters that I flew years ago. Jim
  16. Quote: Mitch Isn't this what you were saying last year?
  17. Quote: M016576 are you kidding?!?! Didn't you just buy your current ride a year ago? You're not seriously planning on getting rid of your K, are you????
  18. I'm just hoping to get my Mooney out of Don Maxwell's shop on Monday and fly it to Florida.
  19. Quote: fantom Parker....my two cents is a TSIO-360, as in a real Encore, not some old K with an Encore conversion. Current prices a compelling for buyers, not so much for sellers.
  20. Yes, rebating laws apply. Differences in quotes could be due to many things on an agent's side - such as improper data entry.
  21. Quote: NotarPilot That outta cost an arm and a leg!
  22. Quote: jelswick I just renewed this month and mine dropped from about $1,450/yr to $1,306/yr with Global Aerospace on my '81 J at $120K hull value (750hrs, PPL and IFR, 90+% in Mooneys) for full flight. One thing I noticed though in reviewing it is that coverage is $1M limit of liability each occurrence and $100K per passenger limit. Seems if there were an accident with anyone else in the plane, I'd be lucky if all i was sued for was $100K. Just curious whether those limits seem low compared to what others are carrying.
  23. Quote: KSMooniac I concur with both parts of this quote... as I mentioned above, I'll have a potential winter WX go/no-go decision on Friday. I have plenty of flexibility with no fixed schedule and am already mentally preparing to drive 6 hours vs. 2 in the Mooney.
  24. Quote: NotarPilot That's pretty surprising considering I recently got quoted just under $1,100 for a vintage 1966 C model valued at $64,500.
  25. Quote: 201er Where are you guys getting these interpretations of ice from? I've seen nothing that suggests IMC or that this occurred enroute. Sounds like it happened 1-5 minutes after takeoff. 287 is close to TEB so it's more of a question of what part of 287 rather than where. My first thought about crash on highway was failed off airport landing. But the fact he was raining down in pieces definitely adds a twist to things...
