  1. Quote: Becca I purposely didn't call Falcon agents in other cities because I assumed like other franchises, they probably have regional turf and they would just refer you back to the office that's local to you. But that is an assumption. Am I wrong?
  2. Just a note...I work for Falcon as does Cliff - we're on the same team (my business is mostly just focused to commercial and turbine risks, but I also insure a lot of Mooneys and Pleasure & business pistons for my aviation friends & acquaintances). If you're with Cliff, you're in a good place!
  3. Can't say I've seen a civilian T-38 either.
  4. I'd say about every 50 hours I need something that's not an oil change. If it doesn't need something, I could possibly be doing something to improve the airplane.
  5. Quote: pjsny78 I am still waiting to get the bugs out of my plane. After 300 hours and getting the plane to a zero squawk state, I have yet to see a time where I am good for more than 10hrs or so. I have heard all kinds of things. Mainly if you fly more the less maintenance you will have. Bullshit I say to this. I fly 50 hrs. A month and its ridiculous. If planes were like cars no one would buy them because of the maintenance involved. Sorry if this comes across kind of harsh but it’s a touchy subject to me.
  6. Quote: borealone all on the smoothest engine I've ever flown. You aren't lying. I just flew a former student's 1993 A36 and was reminded how smooth the IO-550 is...
  7. Yeah, I was less-than-impressed with the article as well. All of the "problems" really don't pile up like the article made them sound if the owner has been caring for the plane properly. And if the owner hasn't done a good job, that's what a good prebuy at your preferred MSC is for.
  8. Sole owner. My flying hours are entirely dependent on if I own or not (own=fly more). I only had my plane available for a short time last year and flew a grand total of 56 hours, including dual given. So far this year I'm pushing 20 hours in January (business and personal flying combined) and have a lot of flying on the books before the plane goes into GAMI install/annual on February 14. Quote: pjsny78 but in my case of flying 50hrs a month on avg.
  9. Here are my first two airplanes. At $199 that is a really good deal from Factory Direct. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
  10. This guy has done 2 excellent ones for me (a C172 and M20J). The manager/owner's name is Ricky. I anticipate him doing another one for me on my M20K in the next few months. Takes about 4 weeks or so. http://www.customairmodels.com/ I'll take pics when I get home tonight. I think with shipping the total came to about $125.
  11. Quote: jetdriven Parker, you may want to get that standby attitude checked.
  12. Download the new iOS5 (plug into your computer and update thru iTunes). It works with the new operating system.

  15. Oh and for the record I would take a Cessna 350 or 400 over a Cirrus. It's unfortunate that Cessna hasn't gotten the 400 FIKI.
  16. Quote: kilobravo3 Parker...I think your roomate should probably start with a new bed before worrying about the paint
  17. That's really cool...my 21 y/oroommate got this room when he moved into my house. I'm thinking it's time for a re-paint.
  18. Quote: allsmiles Can someone more familiar please explain why exactly does someone buy Cirrus? (Besides the parachute.)
  19. The Mooney is about as simple as it gets for a "complex" aircraft. Once the plane is up to snuff, it really doesn't take much to keep it going. Just don't fall behind.
  20. Quote: KSMooniac Wow, how in the world can that be the case??? I can't imagine the titanium panels are different. I figured just adding a second pump, alternator, etc. would be all that is required. Did they give you details?
  21. Quote: allsmiles Considering speed and efficiency, cost of ownership and your mission as described, I would get a nice well equipped J and outfit it with long range tanks. Have you considered this option? You don't need a turbo and the ongoing expense. There plenty of na Airplanes flying out west in the mountains! They do fly believe it or not! I think too many folks get into a turbo when they don't necessarily need it. What you need more than a turbo, IMO is economy and efficiency. Your fuel efficiency will benefit greatly when you eliminate descents and climbs for fuel stops. Long range tanks is an excellent mod to an already excellent airplane that will pay for itself in short order.
  22. Quote: flyboy0681 By the way, why is the standby AI off to its side in the picture?
