  1. Just got back from the in-laws. Flew to MS on Friday, and made the return trip home this afternoon. Thank goodness temps were warm enough at 7000' that icing wasn't an issue.
  2. Just celebrated four years with my C model, and I'm still in love!
  3. Quote: edgargravel I have put about 7 hours behind my iPad using Foreflight and I will probably go with the AvPad kneeboard system...
  4. Bummer - same thing happened to me on a Saturday morning after landing in Nashville. Had a hole in the tube. A&P on the field changed it for a premium cost, cash only.
  5. This happened to me one time, and found a bad cell in my battery. Replaced the battery and had normal starts - cold and hot.
  6. Quote: rbridges ...The C I own meets my needs and is relatively inexpensive (by aircraft standards) to maintain without a partner. The 4 cylinder engine, manual gear, hydraulic flaps, etc. are very dependable. Since it's just me and my wife or friend, I don't need the extra length/load. Paying an extra 100K for 50 more knots doesn't seem worth it in my situation...
  7. Thanks for the update, 231flyer. My wife and I want to make this trip next year.
  8. I take it to a MSC, usually every 25-30hrs. By then I have other squawks, and treat it like a mini-annual for the expert to look over. Helps me budget for the items I'll need at annual, too.
  9. Quote: Shadrach I just say M20Papa...
  10. Joey will do a good job for you, Rob. I'm still deciding between the bladders or the reseal. Keep the pics coming.
  11. I second the sender gaskets. Had the same problem with the fuel smell, and that replacement fixed it.
  12. Just bought a Halo, and like it very much. Once I mastered the proper insertion of the earpiece, the clarity rivals my old Bose set. Nice to speak (and do business) with a fellow Mooney owner and Mississippian!
  13. My guess is that it makes his job easier, and will translate to a lower cost for you if he doesn't have to drain the tanks. Just show up with the minimum fuel required for your flight. I've had to do that a couple of times when he's patched my tanks. No big deal. If you want to save the fuel, drain into your own container and leave for him to replenish when the job is complete.
  14. Quote: rbridges The weep in my right wing is getting worse. I've actually got some bleed through the wing walk by the passenger door. I'm also noticing some blue in the left wing. I originally planned to have a strip/reseal, but the more I think about it, I may go with the bladders. I'm already at a paltry 590lbs useable load with full fuel. I guess another 30lbs won't make a difference b/c I'll probably never have rear passengers. I spoke with someone at Cole Aviation in Rome, GA. He really turned me off of a patch job. He said it's a losing battle, and at $1K/attempt, I want something a little more dependable. Anyone near north GA have much experience with these guys?
  15. I have three students this weekend, so no personal flying for me. Would love to go somewhere, but just spent a small fortune on what was suppose to be a oil change, then turned into replacing several other items. Yet another welcome to aircraft ownership!
  16. I fly with my two Shih Tzu's quite a bit, and they get excited on take-off, but afterwards go to sleep. For Pilot-n-Paws trips, I have had the bigger dogs get scared and frantically attempt to get out of the crate. The first (and only) time I took a placid dog without a crate, he ran to the shelf area on rotation. Thankfully I was on a long runway, and landed. When the prop is started they can get upset.
  17. I always lock my baggage door. When stepping up onto the wing to enter the cockpit, it's part of my external checklist.
  18. This is the kneeboard (http://picsupplies.com/) I use that is built for the iPad, and has the straps on the other side for my note pad/pens, etc. I like the big pocket in the front for my external battery and cables. For my use, I turn it upside down with the iPad on the left left leg so I can write with my right hand on the note pad. Disclaimer: Mike Ladd is a friend of mine, and makes the product.

Quote: N601RX I remember she was very active in the cessna community when I had a cessna. She is a CFII based out of Sewanee-Franklin County Airport up close to you and has an an aerobatic flight school up there. There is a video of her doing a 60 turn spin on her website.

That's so funny. I like when she sets the altimeter to her watch - HA!
  21. No flight this weekend, but I did clean out the hangar and vacuum the cockpit. Also, spot-cleaned my bird for the upcoming PnP transports next weekend in Florence, SC. Would love to see other Mooney's on the ramp!
  22. Quote: rdav I inflate both the mains and the nose to 30 lbs in my M20C, but it always seems that the nose wheel looks a little flatter than the mains. Does anyone else notice this, or is my imagination playing tricks on me?
  23. I flew in from the East (from TN), and choose Henderson. Easy to get in/out, and nice facilities and folks. However, on departure, I did wait on the gound for 30 min to get sequenced from LV approach.
  24. I also recommend Joey Cole. I've used him for four years, and the previous owner used him seven years before that (a total of 11). I like having that kind of history with the same A&P I/A.
  25. Wow - very nice. The before/after is amazing with the panel and yoke covering changes.
